The quest says that the ceremony cannot begin without Halfdan and that he's outside. I game him face down dead on the floor with his dog sat next to him. I can interact and speak with him, but he's unable to make his way inside due to him being dead. He also has the blue loot lights coming out of his back.

I've tried fast travelling, meditating and replaying from an older save point but he's always dead and my game progress is blocked.

Was hoping the new patch would fix this but still trying to witness Halfdans coronation, he is laying unconscious outside with his dog and wont move. Faravid already went inside and have spoken with everyone with dialogue. Nothing else I can do to progress the story. No earlier saves are available to go back to before the glitch after attempting to finish and auto saving throughout. Over 100 hours in and not trying to lose 97 hours to go back to first manual save...

@hmrn61 this whole game is broken. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to dash dive or load a previous save point because of one glitch or another. It’s sadly not mission specific, and it seems releasing it was risk/reward knowing it had a lot of bugs.

@grant20xx agreed, been a big fan and sat through all the patches and glitches of the past launches but this ones by far the worst. Was able to kayak once across a quarter of the map over land at the peaks of mountains which was pretty cool.... but game breaking stuff like this will make me not want to play anymore .

@hmrn61 dude i have the same issue. Im at 93 hours and have everything done that I can, and when I say everything i mean wealth, mysteries, artifacts, drengrs, everything. All done up until this point and now I cant even finish the game because of this bug... it is massively upsetting. I am questioning whether I will ever play another assassins creed game again. When the bug ocurred was at 76 hours in, and the previous save I have is 45 hours in. I am not going to replay 30 hours worth of the game just to finish it. It's unbelievable. I cannot believe this hasnt been addressed yet.

This is beyond stupid. The Blood and Bonds quest needs a hotfix asap as this is a game-breaking bug. One of those bugs that fall under the ToS that allow players to ask for a full refund.

Since we can't talk to Halfdan, we can't complete the game, which means that the game is broken! Simple as that. This is not a regular bug with a collectible or something like that. This bug is way more important.

For the last two weeks I am looking at this guy, yet nobody even cares about this issue.

There is no workaround for this one, and the support is dead just like the idiot in my screenshot.

After 200 hours invested in this game, this is unacceptable.

Same issue here, I'm over 115 hours into the game and can't progress past this quest. Please fix this.

Greetings! I'm very sorry to hear about this error you've encountered in "Of Blood and Bonds". Would you happen to have a short video clip that you could share with me showing that Halfdan is dead and is unable to be interacted with?

I have a video and some images that I've captured by my xbox live is full. I will clear out some space later when I've finished work and get them to you as soon as I can.

If it is of any use, it plays out as follows:

1. I speak with Moira who tells me that Halfdan and Faravid have gone outside to talk, and I follow her to the door.
2. I exit the building and use the bird to locate them - they are stood on top of the wall by the building
3. I walk up to them and Faravid is stood up, Halfdan is face down and the dog is sat next to him.
4. The dialog starts and I can click 'Speak' above Halfdan's body and they say to head into the hall
5. Faravid walks back into the hall
6. Hafdan remains face down on the floor

I suspect Halfdan got killed and not revived in the previous battle, but I have no way to confirm it.

I chose the option "you're insane, halfdan" after the sequence where I accompany Faravid, the mission is not completed, therefore I do not have the alliance. I need help

I am unable to progress in the quest "Of blood and bonds", at the point were Halfdan's coronation is about to start. I am to go and find him outside, but when I go out and find him, he is laying dead on the ground and does not move...


Since my only previous save game is 60 hours earlier, I would be very happy for a bug fix.
Please let me know if I should submit a save file.

Hey there and apologies for the difficulties caused by this bug in 'Of Blood and Bonds'. This issue has been reported to our teams, but they're requesting save files from the affected players in order to further their investigations. If you're able to upload these to a support ticket, then share your case number here that would be very helpful!

In the meantime, others have mentioned that the following workarounds might help as a temporary solution:

• Booby trapping the body
• Throwing the body at an enemy
• Saving the game
• Reloading the save

Please let me know if any of these help you proceed past this bug.
