    The latest patch hasn't fixed it for me on Xbox One I still have no quest marker, my objective is "return the brooch to hunwald" and I have it in my inventory but I can't interact with him. Tried all of the suggestions on here but still nothing.

    Hello all!

    Thank you for continuing to update this thread with your reports and experiences with "In the Absence of Ealdorman." I'm glad to hear that many of you have been able to proceed further in the quest following TU 1.2.0. I would also like to let you all know that we have reopened the investigation into the missing quest markers following reports that this issue still persists following the last update.

    I would like to provide you all with an update on the investigations now taking place with "In the Absence of an Ealdorman" following TU 1.2.0:

    • No quest marker for "In the Absence of an Ealdorman"
      • Status: Reopened Investigation
      • Comments: I've passed on the reports that a number of you have shared to the development team so they can take another look at this. If you play on PC/PS4, please would you be able to open a support ticket and submit your save for further investigation.
    • Bodies to investigate in Roaring Meg's Spring / the sewers are missing
      • Status: Under Investigation (additional videos / save games welcomed)
      • Comments: This issue has been reported by limited players, but the developers have opened an investigation after receiving an affected save file. Additional videos of the issue and save files would be helpful for them to look further into this. I've asked for an update to see if there is any other information that they require as well.
    • Unable to complete the investigation of the three clues
      • Status: Under Investigation (additional videos / save games welcomed)
      • Comments: This issue remains under investigation, and there are no progress updates to report at the current time. As soon as we receive an update, we'll advise you all of this here.
    • Unable to speak to the hospice NPC with the information you need in order to proceed
      • Status: Reopened Investigation
      • Comments: The investigation into this issue has been reopened by the development team. If you are affected by this issue, they would like to gather your save file for further investigation to take place into this issue. Additionally, if you can provide a video that shows you're unable to interact with the hospice NPC, this would be very helpful for the investigation.


    @MAGASWAGNAR - Thanks for trying that workaround for me. I've passed on your report, as well as the images you shared, to the development team for a closer look.

    @heathermasons69 - Thanks for sharing your report with us. Just to confirm, is the issue you're encountering that you have no quest marker after collecting the brooch? Or are you unable to interact with an NPC?

    @captainjack03 - Thank you for letting us know that the issue still persists. I apologise for any disappointment that has been caused. A workaround has been suggested in the thread, which I would recommend giving a try as this has been successful for some players.

    What I did to fix is: Create a new Manual Save. Load the newly saved game. The objective for In the Absence of an Ealdorman finally appear!


    @timmypat - I'm sorry to hear that the marker still hasn't appeared for you. I've passed this report to the development team as well.

    @guest-6cHoLjaF - Would you be able to confirm which issue has not been resolved for you? If possible, would you be able to provide any of the additional information requested above?

    @magaswagnar Not sure it made any difference to pledge. I was trying to cover everything I did after the latest update. I was originally unable to progress on two main quest, this one and Jorvik, as well as 4 world events and unresponsive drengrs. I started saving prior to trying different approaches to fixing the problems. Through some miracle I was able to finish the Jorvik quest and all the drengrs. The result was that I was not pledged to any locations on the table. I would periodically pledge to Lincolscire to see if it was fixed, but always reverted back to the save prior to pledging. The good news is that I did complete the main story lines yesterday, but I'm still can't progress on 4 world events and my settlement progress is stuck just under level 6.

    I hope they come up with a solution for those that are still stuck as I remember how frustrated I was with the lack of a solution to this issue.

    Latest patch has fixed this !! I'm so happy I can finally finish the story !! I honestly thought Ubisoft had decided to abandon this issue, so many many thanks for finally sorting it out (albeit after several months).

    @maybe2maybe3 Just solved the settlement issue - this was my fault as I missed something that needed upgrading so I only have the 4 world events.

    @Ubi-Borealis, I opened a case and submitted my save. My issue was with not receiving a quest marker after collecting the brooch.

    Do we have to wait another month for a patch? Can we please have an ETA on when this issue will finally be resolved?

    @ubi-borealis Thank you for the reply. I tried the workaround and it did not work for me. I will re-open and re-submit my save files again.

    @captainjack03 @Ubi-Borealis I re-opened my support case but the upload system is not letting me upload my files again (a different issue from before, but still not letting me continue). I included a OneDrive link in the ticket. Please confirm the support team received and downloaded them. Thank you.

    Thank you for updating this thread with your experiences with "In the Absence of Ealdorman." We currently have no new updates to share from the ongoing investigations. Please be assured that we have notified the development team that the marker still does not seem to be appearing for some of you, and I have forwarded the reports that have been shared. Once we have any new information to share from the investigation, it will be posted within this thread.

    If you are still unable to proceed in "In the Absence of an Ealdorman" because the marker doesn't show, please don't hesitate to update this thread. If you're able to provide a video showing you have TU 1.2.0 installed, and that you still have no marker available, this will also be helpful for the investigation.

    @heathermasons69 - Thanks for opening a support ticket! Your save has been forwarded to the development team for a closer look. Currently, we're unable to speculate on an ETA for when this issue will be resolved. Once we have any information about this from the development team, it will be shared within the forums.

    Hello @ubi-borealis,

    I'm still affected with both bugs : "No quest marker" and "Bodies to investigate in Roaring Meg's Spring are missing" but I already opened a ticket months ago where they asked me to provide save files which I did, Tiket number is 13448809. Should I provide new ones ?

    I wouldlike to provide a video, but where do I see the version of my game please ?

    Hello there @DonFurinkazan!

    Thank you for letting us know which issues you are still affected by. I'm sorry that this is preventing your from progressing further in the quest. Would you be able to provide us with updated save files, following TU 1.2.0? You can also view the version of your game on the main menu screen (where you would load a game from). It will be shown in the bottom right-hand corner.

    Please let us know when you've updated your support ticket so we can take a closer look.

    So I did provide new save files updated in the latest version 1.2.0 on the ticket I mentionned earlier (13448809). However I'm still unable to find the version of my game, even in the bottom right-hand corner of my title screen where there is only a button to the patch notes.

    Thank you for providing those updated save files for us, @DonFurinkazan! I've passed these along to the development team. The patch notes showing as 1.2.0 show that you have the most recent TU installed. Apologise for any confusion caused by my description of this. You do have the most recent update installed.

    I have been waiting patiently for so long, there have been a few updates that say this problem has been fixed but it is not true at all. still no quest showing on the map, still cant return the brooch to hunwald... got this game for christmas, 120 hours of gameplay. fix your game already please... i am not restarting... been waiting for 2 months... new 1.2.0 update still hasnt fixed it

    still cant progress, been waiting for 2 months, still cant return that god damn brooch, please fix, i was so excited to here that it was fixed in the new 1.2.0 update and yet again it still isnt fixed and can still no longer finish this game that i have had since christmas, 120 hours in, not restarting anything thank you very much

    I manage to record a video that shows the state of my save where we can see both bugs but I was not able to upload it on a support ticket because of its size. Is it OK if I upload it to youtube and send you the link ?

    Since launch I've given Ubisoft two separate attempts to fix this game-breaking quest. I've renewed Ubisoft+ because of it and now wasted another $15 because Ubisoft isn't properly fixing their games. Why did I choose Ubisoft+ instead of buying the game? Because I had a feeling that this was going to be the case, just didn't realize it was going to be a later game-breaking bug.
    Please add a skip option or if you have the brooch put in coding to automatically trigger the hand off to the NPC. This is getting infuriating at this point.

    Another update and still no fix. Still no objective marker and the nurse at the hospice still won't talk. This is bordering on the ridiculous. I just want to finish the damn story.

    Same, the new update has not solved the problem or the glitch for me. I am in 120 hours i the game.

    So, I’ve looked around and seen a lot of people have problems with this quest but not this one. I’m no longer able to fulfill the requirements of the “Search the Hospice” part of the quest. All of the workers are still there including the nun with the information on the bathhouse but there’s no longer an option to interact with them (no text bubble) no matter what I do. I’ve tried to do other quests, fighting around them, reloading another save, fast travel, change genders, and pretty much anything else I’ve found on the forums. All I have left on the map are Lincolnshire, Suthexe, and Hamtunscire. I really wanted to have all the territories I could pledged before I continued, so this bug is aggravating (not to mention I can’t fulfill the Kill the Order Members quest either) .
