During the quest "In the Absence of an Ealdorman, my game crashed on a travel to the city of Lincoln to turn in the brooch from the castle. When loading the game back up, I was unable to see the quest objective in the city and I cannot get the game to recognize me by being in the area of the quest turn in either. Really frustrating since my last manual save was 4 hours prior. Any possible fixes to this issue or do I need to restart from 4 hours ago?

After searching the bathhouse and completing the clue search the cutscene in which Eivor says where the ealdorman goes doesn't play. It just shows the quest name and description in the quest log no locations or markers.

Investigation Area Bug, Doing chapter 3 of In the Absence of an Ealdorman and I have a bug not letting me investigate the clues. Saved my game went back in about 30mins later and it seems to be fully bugged. Stuck on 2/3 of the clues gathered and cant pick up the note from the room, also still showing I need to loot the key even though I have looted it and I have access to the room.

@ujellynelly I have the exact same problem and I have no save beforehand. This is literally the last area I have to do, and Hunwald is just standing there like a dummy and I have no option to give him the brooch. Please give us a fix for this. This is brutal lol.

@ujellynelly same problem here. I was able to start other missions though. Hope there's a fix soon.

Same here really annoying there was no crash just doesn’t have the next objective after collecting the Brooch.

Yeah same here I can’t continue the main story quest at all, just stuck here and can’t turn it in as there no objective or turn in place or interaction

I met a bug that I think will force me to restart the whole game On the quest ‘In the Absence of an Ealdorman’ where look for proof of something down in the sewer in Bolingbrook Castle but it’s not there nor is it there in any previous save and there is not quest objectives at all showing up...a few other people have this bug so you can’t with the main quest at all. Since it looks like I’ll have to delete my 80 hours save, will the two resource packs I bought in the store come back in the new save?

I have the same issue, no way around it from what I can see and apparently won’t be a patch till end of the month and since this is main quest bug I might have to start my 80 hour save all over again

Same problem here, legit can't progress the main quest. I managed to find the NPC without the marker and the they are just standing there like idiots.

I have the same issue on Xbox both the Xbox one and Xbox series x
I've even reinstalled the game still broken

Unable to interact with the chest containing the Eldorman's Brooch to advance the questline past finding the Eldorman's body, before doing the required quest, I used the "Dive of Valkyries" exploit to break through the barricaded door at the end of the tunnel, gaining access before I should have, at which point I unintentionally interacted with the required container, gaining the brooch long before getting the quest. Am now stuck without the prompt to return to Hunwald.

@ubikobold Yes I experienced a crash before the bug. Contacted support today and told me to verify game file. Bug still exist after doing that.

Im stuck here as well, I find the clue..but no one to turn into or no quest marker. I did not crash.

@ubikobold hello sir! I did not crash. It simply did not trigger the turn in when I got the brooch. I have the quest, and it says to turn it in, but there is no option to ACTUALLY turn it in to Hunwald in Lincoln. Reinstalling, changing quests, completing other quests, trying to kill Hinwald, etc. did not fix it on Xbox One S. Thanks for replying! Nice to know we could be in the clear soon!
