I don't know what I did, but I was messing with some lighting settings in the Nvidia Control Panel and my monitor(with HDR) and for some reason the game gets REALLY Bright in dark areas, which is kinda... unplayable, but when I reset all of the setting even turning HDR off it still persists. I am clueless on why this is happening. undefined

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@d-n-a8801 Reset the nvidia settings or better yet, disable them. Been awhile but try looking under the "desktop" image settings in nvidia panel. IIRC, one tab does videos and one does desktop screen. It'll have color, brightness, etc., with ability to use it's sliders or bypass, etc.. Default that.

@bushwickedly I made sure to set all the setting to be based on other application settings and no dice, still very bright.

@d-n-a8801 The correct tab with correct settings WILL alter the game's image. IF nothing is happening, it's wrong settings. At very least, should be able to lower brightness and see some change.

Also, IF you are connected to the TV/monitor via HDMI, try going into the TV settings instead and try changing brightness/contrast/gama/ there and turn OFF HDR on monitor settings if the option is there. Also check if you have any "ECO" settings or similar or anything that alters black levels or backlight. On my Samsung, they put the "ECO" stuff in the System -> "Eco Solution" area vs Picture -> "Expert Settings" despite changing the back lighting and screen darkness which isn't intuitive if it's messing with overall picture darkness.

I noticed on my Samsung that if in the PS4 homescreen and no game running, it'll allow HDMI low/high black levels which look great, but with game RUNNING, it locks them out. HATE automatic setting TV/monitors as they cause more issue than they are worth. Also, HDR can be a headache if set wrong in game or TV.

@bushwickedly Yeah something was up, it took a hot minute, but I verified the game files and something was found to be missing, this fixed the issue(which would explain why nothing in the settings was enough), and now everything was super dark, but I changed some setting back to normal and everything is fixed!--Oh thank the lord, while Sol Invictus's light is truly majestic, it is very blinding. Thanks for the help.
