@asgardian02 but again, with odyssey they bothered to say a reason why they didn't have shields for the Eagle Bearer. They said they wanted more aggressive gameplay and the story reason was that they weren't raised in a city state environment so wouldn't have been taught to fight in a phalanx (which although isn't a great excuse is still an excuse).
One handed swords aren't integral to the combat system, nor are they part of the narrative (as to why Eivor doesn't use one). Hence why I either want an update or a reason why they're not in the game
@max18400
i odnt care really anymore, removed the game from the pc, as time will go on ill becom einactive on these forums as well and hopefully forget all about AC-games and the [censored] they make soon
I understand. As I've said, this will be the last assassin's creed game I get

^^ This
@UbiKobold
The community is dying to know the status of one handed swords being added to the game? Thanks
@superfly_boss another thought to add to this.... Ubisoft'a For honour's gameplay had loads of new weapon types, moves, finishers etc. Added to it well beyond what available at launch? So in reality they can, with time, add anything they want to the game. This surely means that adding on one new weapons type that clearly is to an extent in the game already, could be added in
@max18400
The best thing we can hope for - dagger type of weapon that look like short sword of sort.
Valhalla doesn't look like a game in which completely new types of weapons will be added over time.
Only additional reskins to the base mechanics, nothing more.
Similar with Odyssey on that note.
@asgardian02
I dont have many hopes that they add one-handed swords but in Odyssey there wasnt the ability to use shields because the gameplay was focused around having leonidas spear at any time in the offhand. The only thing they could have added is a shield as a weapon which would have looked strange with the broken spear and the animations in this game. It isnt made for this type of shield gameplay which was a bad decision to start with.
Valhalla has a system where they naturally can add any new weapon type regardless of on which hand you use it.
I doubt they will do what we wish for because Ubisoft dont care. They have their roadmap and they will stick to it without any changes. Their games dont evolve naturally and our wishes change nothing. Everything they want to add to their live-service-games is planned from the beginning and some things were also just cut out of the game to release them later as "free content". Everything is planned and nothing is dynamic here.
I am pretty sure transmog and NG+ are alrady pretty finished but they just hold them back to have stuff for every monhtly update.
I would love to see one-handed swords sooner than later but i dont have any hopes.
The only hope i have is that they add them in with the dlc in Paris because it could be possible that the Edensword from Unity is sitting around there...
Everyone who played Unity will remember the start of this game which played in medieval Paris and had the Edensword locked away with a book.
Quote: Swords of Eden | Assassin's Creed Wiki | Fandom
"By the early 14th century a Sword was in possession of the Knights Templar. After the Templars were branded as heretics in 1307 by Pope Clement V, and the Parisian Temple was attacked by King Philip the Fair's forces, Grand Master Jacques de Molay entrusted his advisor with hiding the Sword and the Codex Pater Intellectus, a book written by de Molay.[8] The Sword was briefly in possession of the Master Assassin Thomas de Carneillon, who attempted to steal it along with the book during the attack on the Temple."
This should be the possibility for Ubisoft to make a great coneection to Unity and also add one-handed swords to the game with the Edensword as the final weapon. We just know that the sword was in the possession of templars but it could be brought there by the Order of the ancients and hidden in this cave.
One handed swords really need to be added to this game desperately.
Some players such as myself enjoy the AC franchise because of it's historical immersion and proportionate 1 handed swords would make this a far more enjoyable game for many people.
Especially as it was one of the most popular types of weapons in that period and was the most highly valued type of weapon in viking culture due to it being considered a weapon that indicated high status.
It seems so strange to not have this available as a weapon option given that there are so many weapons available that were simply never used in this time period such as flails and two handed swords just were not used by vikings.
Not arguing that those types of weapons shouldn't be accessible as it should all be about player choice but its seems so strange to not have such and obvious and iconic weapon in the game
Why are their not one handed swords in the game??? Also by all stories of Excalibur, it was a one handed sword and not a two handed sword. I don't know who did the research for UBISOFT of Viking weapons or Excalibur, but the Vikings used mostly one HANDED swords. SO I have no clue WHY there are no one handed swords in the GAME, that is ABOUT Vikings??? Please add some one handed swords to the game and please change Excalibur to a 1 handed sword...
Despite the fact that it is historically accurate, AC Valhalla is an RPG game, one handed sword is a must have for it. So who is the genius that decided to remove the one handed sword from a Dark Age RPG game?!!
@lordraven4430 only update is the request has been handed in to the devs.
Thry looked like they've added some more one handed sword animations for npcs, so fingers crossed
Why can Eivor not have a one handed sword it is just Dumb That he uses a long sword in this time period. He is a Leader he can afford a sword.
’and that the only ulfberht you can get is stupid long.
This one handed sword have been missing since the beginning of the game and we have still no information about what is going to happen
Did you have any official answer to give to the many players who want this in this game? (sorry if my English is not good)
Thank you
