Fishing? Really? Is this the Wii from the 00s? I don't like fishing in real life and I certainly don't want to spend a second on it in a video game. At least one of the Artifact things and part of my settlement seem to require I get fish.

Another strike against the game, in my opinion. It goes along with having to gather rations (and fish don't count, of course). A needless "realism" in my opinion. In a game where I just finished climbing virtual blocks of light to investigate some anomaly. Not the most "realistic" thing, for sure.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@thecosmicbob And yet you have others that complain about not enough immersion in games. Go figure that someone would complain there is too much immersion.

@thecosmicbob I just use my bow and arrows to fish instead of the rope and bait. It’s way easier and does take to much time to get what you need. However sometimes the fish do disappear or move downstream with the current With a fully upgraded hunter bow and light bow you can get 40 fish if you are 100% accurate. Just an idea to save you time

But...fish do count as rations. And you can use a bow really easily if you don't want to use a line. Very little in the game actually requires fishing. Which is good for the people like you who don't want to fish. But for those of us who do, it is there as well. I love it and will do it happily. You don't HAVE to outside of like...2 times maybe. (also, which artifact requires fish? artifacts are flying paper, roman relics, stories, curses, and treasure maps...)

More ridiculous fishing. I got a world event with Nel and Walter and couldn't figure out what was going on. I dove in to the lake, grabbed some loot and some iron ore, but nothing obvious to do jumped out at me. I checked on the internet and the entire world event was to catch a random number of fish for the little girl.

Yup. Not going to happen. I moved along and left another event undone. Unless there is some main story progression that will require fishing, I'm not going to do any of that activity. Or chasing paper around. I have resigned myself to not 100%-ing this game, basically I'm going to try to get through it as quickly as I can.

This is probably the most disappointing game I've ever played, based on my expectations and what was delivered.

I finally came to a fishing thing I had to complete. It was the Bjorn one and I had to catch a fish for Nal, the polar bear. *bleh* But I needed it to continue with the quest. And the polar bear is 'dorbs.

The fishing required in game is very minor. Did you run out of interesting things to complain about?

Oh and spear fishing is the most effective way to go. Makes some quick silver with it
