@scuderiabaratta just did what you said (full Petra quest line, slept alone after she left) and I also got a quest complete notification for an unknown and unclarified quest but am now able to save and fast travel again. This seems to be the fix.

Okay I figured out why this is happening. I had a similar problem right after the main quest. I left the long house before speaking to Sigurd (because it didn't have a quest marker). I couldn't fast travel until I went back to the longhouse for a cutscene with Sigurd for him to give up the clan for Eivor.

After speaking to King Aelfred, I couldn't fast travel so I was sailing back to the settlement when eivor said "I should speak to Hytham". Again it was unmarked but as soon as I spoke to him everything was fixed.

...I feel like they should have found these bugs if they actually play tested their game. I can't platinum it because three separate trophies are bugged. Great game lmao

I manage to fix the bug by starting a feast in longhouse

This bug struck just after going to East Anglia and coming across Black Shuck (who is also, by the by, invisible). Finally reverted to an old save and completed the Petra quest up to the shooting competition, which fingers crossed appears to have fixed it for now.

@hikari5032 Thanks this worked for me also, it completed a mission in the cut scene of the feast. Also tried sleeping in the bed at Ravensthorpe and that didn't work.

@colabeatssprite I found a different solution. Simply sail to a far away location and wait. I was able to fast travel when I was almost near ravensthorpe. Hope this works for you guys too

It's not a bug, it's a feature. Simply go East to the edge of the Afon river, then travel along the river bank south until you find all dead bodies of Ubba's soldiers and read the letter there. It's not that far south so doesn't take long to find it. Eivor speaks aloud that this is the spot Alfred mentioned and after looting bodies and walking around a little, she says she needs to talk to Hytham back at the settlement. After she says that, Fast Travel works again. They want you to find this camp before leaving the area which is why they turned off Fast Travel. I suspect it's the same for other times in the story. If you lost fast travel, it means you need to roam around the whole area until you find what they want you to find, then fast travel will work again. I discovered the camp by accident because I took my horse to ride south to get to last spot of my long boat, when I was then going to try to take back to the settlement since Fast travel was broken. I suspect that Ubi thought other people would do this too since Fast travel was purposely locked out until you did this. I wish I had paid more attention when Alfred was talking but I was distracted by a movie I was watching.

I tried to find a youtube to see if I could watch his speech to me again to get a clue of why I was stuck there with no fast travel, but there is none presently on youtube of the Aethelny thing so it was pure luck I traveled on river bank to the south a little.

I'm on PC, finished main story and Asgard story, just one zealot and the OotA left to go, and fast travel has died. Riding clear across England to fulfill a contract for Reda is not my idea of fun. I've sailed. Did not fix. Already finished the quest about Ubba soilders a long time ago. Did a Legendary Beast Hunter quest. No fast travel. Rode across the entire length of Oxfordscire, no fast travel. It's broken.

@kimosabe888 it's definitely a bug, Ubisoft has already said they messed something up in the last patch meant to fix an even earlier travel bug. They're "working on it" but have suggested work-arounds while we wait. The bug not only limits fast travels but also saves and appears to be triggered by several different events. However not everyone is experiencing it at the same intervals.

@wiselycreated Well their workaround to sleep doesn't work for me.

good to know, all I know is I was also stuck after meeting Alfred in the village. no fast travel, but as soon as I went to the camp on the river bank that Alfred had mentioned in his talk to me, and I looked around and Eivor did some out loud talking, then Fast travel worked again.

When music stopped, fast travel was available again

This right here. The game gives absolutely no indication of this and the music doesn't even kick in straight away after dealing with the Order leader. In any other game, this is where the screen would fade to black, disable controls, and force the player to watch a credit roll while the music plays. Instead, it leaves the player baffled and disheartened that they can no longer fast travel, and worse still: it makes players think that their game is bugged, often making them think that reloading to a previous save, sometimes hours before, will fix it. The only indication that fast travel is enabled again is when Eivor comments aloud that he should go talk to Hytham.

Ubisoft, this is bad design, pure and simple. If you're going wrest control away from the player, then you need to clearly indicate that there is a reason for it and that it will be given back once whatever event has completed. This thread is full of examples of what happens when you fail to do this!

TL;DR - After dealing with the Order leader, fast travel will be disabled. Start walking back across the marsh, away from the village. Credit-roll-esque music will start playing as you go about your business. Wait a few more minutes until the music stops. Eivor will comment about talking to Hytham at your settlement. That is when fast travel will be re-enabled.

I had the same issue, turns out I had to walk past Sigurd in the long house in the colony (near the throne). It started a short dialog about him and Randvi, and then I was able to fast travel again.

@agi27 And my fast travel disappeared again after I killed one of Reda's contracts. In game, this was no more than 5 minutes after it had returned. What a huge mess. I can't even get the game to give me the Father quest. I've killed everyone in the order, except the father, I've finished the main story lines, Raventhorpe and Asgard, and I've completed the settlement. This game is so buggy, I can only wish they'd held it for a month and done more testing before dumping it on us.

@yuri-22 Ran up to Ragnarrson Look Out and still no Fast Travel available. Also, no Atlas travels. However, back in Ravensthorpe, realized still had a final arc (Hamtunscire), pledged and now I'm off to Wertham - and fast travels returned!

I'm near the end of the game and when I went back to England from Norway I can no longer fast travel anywhere. The entire map is "fast travel unavailable". Is this supposed to happen or is this a glitch?

I have since gotten them to appear again. I'm guessing it was a game thing because it came back when I was done with the mission. It happened again later and came back after that mission as well, So it works now.
