Bug on Xbox One, cannot switch from bow to melee

Hi - most annoying bug that really affects gameplay. When I use my bow, or throw on object, the bow remains locked on and I cannot use melee weapons, run, climb, crouch, or dodge etc. while the bow mode is locked on. The "work around" I found is to enter map/inventory/etc. and exit quickly which is highly inconvenient during combat, particularly boss fights. This has caused me to get killed dozens of times through the first couple of arcs in England & Valhalla up to about a level 100. I've restarted the game, losing all advancements, using every option select like gender, "let animus decide", adventurer, explorer mode etc. Still persists. At this point I'm about to quit the game and see if I can get a refund. It's unplayable like this. I see a few other posts here about this but no official response from Ubisoft. Posts on Reddit about this too with no fix that has worked for me. Using digital download version on Xbox One.

A few weeks later and more posts about people dealing with the same bow bug and no response from Ubisoft that I can see. Really takes away from the game as all the skills related to bow are basically useless to me.
COME ON UBISOFT can you acknowledge the problem and try to fix?????
