This bug affects the quest line for "Smashing the Compass", specifically the "Rescue Stowe and Erke from the Blaze" segment. After you escape the chapel, kill the guards outside, and destroy the wooden crates blocking the chapel door, one for the NPCs you are suppose to rescue is stuck running into blocked exit directly across from the door you just cleared to enter the chapel. The NPC stuck running has looping speech as if they were escaping, but is just running in place...not escaping. Fast travel is also not available. Multiple game resets have not corrected the issue. Fix required.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

I have the same problem. Can’t do anything. It also created a border around Lunden with transparent triangles moving that say “Area not available during current memory”. Fix required and needed ASAP.
I had to reload to an auto save just as the fire starts and you’re supposed to climb out.
I climbed out, jumped down and assassinated the leader of the baddies outside the chapel. I think the key to not repeating the big was that I then opened the door before killing any of the others as opposed to killing all the guards then opening the door.
After opening the doors and returning to the fight, both Stowe and the other dude both get out and fight with you.
hope this helps.
I just got this bug also. Unable to progress in the game. Guess I'm done with it.
I loaded a previous version of the save,
open the load menu, there’s probably an Auto-Save from the mission prior.
talk to Stowe and Erne, climb up and out to cinematic with Bell Tower crashing, jump down to all the guards at the door, smash the door etc and run in and get them, then lead them out to fight with you.
then you’ll need to flee the area with them (they lead you).
worked for me...
