The world event is called 'The Horn of Ragnar'. It involves a breaking and entering . The NPC required to start the mission and progress it is dead in front of the house upon first meeting and remains as such after reloading saves and restarting my ps4 console.

The video below will demonstrate the current situation (and possibly a terrible mistake of how i handled such a situation)

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hi Vikings!

After thorough investigation, the development team is unable to provide a solution for the reported issue. When assessing the complexity of the issue and number of players affected, the team had to prioritize issues that had a comparatively higher impact.

With Post-Launch support for Assassin's Creed Valhalla coming to an end, we will be unable to roll out a fix for this issue.

We will now lock this thread.

@oldmacjesusxl I am sorry to hear that you are unable to start this quest.

If you fast travel to another location and then return to this quest, is the NPC still dead?

Same problem for me. Fast travel didn't help.

    @ubi-swaggins

Sorry for the late reply, this forum itself is being buggy and didn't give me a reply button to your post till just now, and trying to reply to this thread in general gave me an error saying "You don't have enough permissions" .

Anyway, I have long since completed the game and the npc is still dead / missing. Aside from this quest breaking issue, I'm also having a problem with fabric not existing in my game ever since fully upgrading my quiver and rations. I've not single a single fabric for over 50 hours of gameplay, therefore I am unable to complete an altar offering that requires 5 fabrics

This is another small video just to showcase how this World Event is still bugged, and also a bonus tidbit showing that there is no fabric in my game to collect.

@bo_7dra_99 your best bet would be to go back to a save from before the npc was killed

if history is any indication, i don't think ubisoft will provide a way to correct the problem on an existing save and since it may be quite a rare occurence, they also probably won't do anything about it.

can you post a picture of the exact location just to be sure we are talking about a man who can't get in his house?

@bo_7dra_99 well, that's only my opinion and not the official word, but it is from experience and i would be glad to be proven wrong.

it's a little stressing in ubi games when you encounter an event and you're not sure if it's a bug or something you didn't understand fully, there is always a lingering doubt you take the chance to be stuck and can't count on any measure of effort to remedy to the problem.

in this type of case, i try to reload before just to check if i have the same result, or if it was bad luck. or i avoid the event completely until a further date when they may be a fix...

@tobi_w_kenobi The quest giver gets killed by an NPC if you're in the area. You need to find a save where the NPC is still alive.

    I’m on PS4
The world event in the south east corner of glowecestrescire won’t let me progress because the quest giver npc died to a random enemy that spawned nearby.

Couldn’t find this elsewhere but I’ve discovered a bug where you can’t start the horn of ragnor world event as the npc you need to interact with has been killed by someone. Is there a fix for this?

I am playing on PS4 and I am at the spot for 'The Horn of Ragnar' mystery. The NPC I need to talk to to start the mystery is dead on the ground. I have tried fast traveling back and forth, coming back at another time, loading the game again, but none work as the NPC is still dead on the ground. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance!

@tobi_w_kenobi He will be alive at some point. I have tested this. I had to go back to an old save. Basically if you're in that area a random NPC will spawn and kill him so you need to do his world event before that can happen.
