World Events not showing in menu or quest log

Hopefully someone else is having this same issue and maybe can provide a fix. I have restarted my game 3 times and reinstalled but keep having the same issue.
Any blue marked world event doesn’t seem to be registering. I will speak to any npc in the game about a mission or quest and the blue marker never moves off them and nothing shows progression in my menus. I ask a woman in the very first village after the opening fight and boat trip about good hunting grounds, she tells me to bring her antlers. I can’t. A woman by a lake is having potential suitors find her comb in the water. I find it and talk to her but nothing changes. I am able to track the main quest okay so far but nothing else.
