I was playing the game before updating to the latest build and it worked, but after updating, the game crashes when trying to launch. I reported the crash reports, but also throwing a thread here for good measure.
Windows 10 preview build 20257.fe_release.201106-1554
Please look into this. Thank you.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@uplay-remij Same here. I was able to play for about 3 hours and the Windows 10 Insider Preview 20257.1 (fe_release) update installed overnight. I was previously on Windows 10 Insider Preview 20251.1 (fe_release).
Haven't been able to get past the splash screen window since then. I've tried all the fixes I could find online. I didn't realize until now but the Windows update aligns exactly with the start of my problem as well.
No other games from any brand have any issues with this update that I could find except Assasin's Creed Odyssey which does the exact same thing as Valhalla.
I own Odyssey but I was playing Valhalla via Uplay+.
Really disappointing because if I had to wait for a fix to resume playing Valhalla, Odyssey would be my backup game in the meantime! Hopefully this is something easy to fix and an update will be rolled out asap because I feel really left out (and Uplay+ is costing me!)
Horizon Zero Dawn now crashes when I try to load games as well. Pretty sure it's also related to this windows update.
@nauzhror1216
Yea, I'm going to send this feedback to MS. There seems to be some issues with the newest build and certain games. It might be a problem MS has to fix.
I noticed Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Steam version) wouldn't play audio either. Nothing I tried (and I tried everything) would fix it. But as soon as I rolled back to the previous Windows build.. the sound worked.. and AC:V worked again.
So just to update, I took the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20262 update today with no change in the crashing at launch behavior. So it doesn't appear to be a one-off bug with that particular build (20257) It's likely to be an issue going forward until the cause is debugged by the game devs.
ACValhalla and ACOdyssey are still the only games/apps affected by this bug on my system. I don't have Horizon Zero Dawn to test so I can't say whether that is the same or a related bug or something else entirely.
Still holding out for an update or more information on the cause or solution of this bug! I really hope I won't have to wait for 20257 to hit stable for it to be taken seriously. I can't afford to downgrade and clean install my system to troubleshoot one or two games.
Please Ubisoft take a look at this bug, I don't think it will cost you much dev time to fix and I know I'm not the only one left out of Valhalla because of it!
@boogie7601
Yep, can confirm.. I just updated to the newest release from yesterday, and again AC:V crashes. Ori 2 now has the audio issues again.
This must be addressed.
Over a month later this issue is still affecting many people.
From my experience and what I have read these games are currently being affected by this bug:
Build 21277 here, and Assassins Creed-, Valhalla, Odessey and Origens won't run anymore. My other 300+ games, no problem........
