On PC, M+K, GTX 1660, Ryzen 5 2600X, NVMe SSD.
As shown in this linked video clip: (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YTfECwz7aY80yjFanbH9ZQfw7OH7p_Bc/view?usp=sharing), regardless of the walk speed I have in the settings (right now it's set to 9 or 10 I believe), when Eivor's hood is up, they slow down to a snail's pace. In the video example, it takes about half as long for Eivor to walk up and down the small incline without the hood up. Is this intentional? Is anyone else experiencing this? It makes traversing cities feel agonizingly slow.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hello there,

The development team have reached out to us with an update regarding Eivor's speed whilst walking in disguise. The team have announced that this behaviour is working as intended. You can read their full statement below:

We can confirm that the speed of Eivor walking while in disguise was improved with Title Update 1.2.0 and is working as intended. Full speed navigation is unaffected by disguise, but when walking, the feature slows down Eivor's walking speed.

Following the development team's announcement, this issue will now be marked as resolved.

We understand that this may not be the answer that some of you were hoping for, and apologise for any disappointment caused. We do not know of any plans to implement any further changes to Eivor's walking speed whilst wearing a disguise. We will continue to communicate all of the feedback and comments shared in this thread with the developers for them to consider.

    Thank you 🙂

The walk speed setting from the menu doesn't seem to affect the walk speed for when you pull up your cloak/disguise. I am stuck with walking at the slowest rate and it is making it annoying and I am not sure how it will affect me going forward. From the videos I've seen, the walking is supposed to work like the normal walk (aka with controller it is dependent on how far you push the stick controller) - being on PC with mouse and keyboard, it's dependent on the menu setting.

Would be nice if the walk speed with affect both normal and disguised walks (which I'm sure it is supposed to).

@revenantsp1 A note to add, I just did a bit where I needed to be disguised and almost got caught by a patrol because I was walking too slow to move into a smart position. I would have been caught if I hadn't reach my objective at that very moment (the cutscene interrupted the combat).

While stealth gameplay doesn't seem to be a part of my game so far in the 12 hours I played so far. I tried to use the disguise and use the walk mode to be blended in, yet i walk at the pace of a snail? This isn't blending it, it is infact the opposite. If every other villager is walking about 3mph, and i'm walking less than 1? It doesn't make sense and i'm now avoiding using this at all as it just hampers the gameplay.

Haven't seen anyone else mention this. You can change the walk speed for regular walking and it works jsut fine but when you put on a disguise the walk speed seems to be the slowest it can possibly be.

I am playing on PC, so this likely doesn't apply to consoles. When I am uncloaked I walk fine, and in fact PC allows you to control walk speed in settings. However, when I put my hood up and attempt to walk I walk prohibitively slow. I don't mean that hyperbolically, I literally can't blend in. I walk by guards so slow they recognize me, and villagers are significantly faster than me so I cannot blend in with crowds. Is this a bug? Intentional? It makes social stealth impossible.

On PC with keyboard and mouse, Eivor's walking speed drops to the lowest speed setting when putting on disguise. Is this intentional? Can we please let Eivor walk just as fast as how we set the walking speed to be in the options menu, even when using disguise? Otherwise KB/M users have to decide between either snail pace walking or running around all the time in areas requiring disguise.

Hey there! Are you using a controller or keyboard/mouse? You should be able to walk at any speed you desire while cloaked. I'm playing on PC and using an Xbox controller, and it seems to be working normally.

Can't say for certain, but I think that when you toggle walk while your cloak is up with M&K as the input, the speed is defaulted to 1, regardless of the walk speed the player actually has set. This makes social stealth harder since I either have to go at a crawl or a jog, nowhere in between, without connecting a controller.

@kissybyc Yes please! Noticed this too. It's not functional atm

Please make the walking speed while hiding a bit faster and scale on the walking speed option (or make another option for that) when using keyboard.

Actually it seems to be fixed at really low speed.

@howdyprincezote We're having issues accessing the video you linked to. Can you upload it to youtube and drop us a link?

@howdyprincezote this also happens to me, i assumed it was intentional but it is horrifically annoying. i end up having to alternate between running and walking for a second to stop detection as i simply do not have the patience to spend a year walking through citites.

i don't have the means to record but it is simply that - your walking speed with hood up is drastically reduced and is unaffected by the "walking speed" setting.

@chaosandcoffee Not intended - if you play with a controller the speed adjusts as with normal walking (from the videos I've seen). It's an oversight.

Hey there, thanks for your feedback! I will pass this up to the developers.

@ubi-spud I and it seems a lot of other mouse and keyboard players are experiencing the same issue, when you toggle/hold the walk key with cloak/disguise on it defaults to the slowest walking speed no matter what speed is set in the options menu.

oh wow, okay. well - at least we should hopefully get a fix soon then. would appreciate if this could be reported to someone who can actually fix it. @Ubi-Ginge it should be easy to see without a video, even, just try walking with and without a hood. (on pc, without controller)

Yes. This is irritating as hell. I want to move about towns cloaked, but not at a snail speed. This is ridiculous. Can you please make it normal walking speed?

I second this. Hiding is extremely and annoyingly slow.
