Steam is able to identify as a ps4 at least and the controller can be used in the uplay menu but I am unable to use it in game as the input mode is grayed out. Tried both via bluetooth and usb and both show up but does not work. I have other controllers but they're not being recognized either by the game.

I'm having the same issue. I can only use my DS4 controller wired also which is pretty poor considering I can use it with bluetooth on nearly every Steam game. Even if I can use it wired only it would still be an improvement over not being able to use it at all.

It's 2020 guys come on. The days of having to have a controller plugged in should be long behind us. Also to note, when I have the controller connected via bluetooth the Ubisoft in-game overlay pops up saying new controller detected but it's not useable at all.

@day_walker_83 I noticed that I’m using a BT receiver equipped with 4.0 I ordered a 5.1 BT receiver to see if that works but I did confirm steam doesn’t have an issue with the ps5 controller in Skyrim and risk of rain 2. When I boot up AC:Valhalla it says a controller is connected but still only allows keyboard and not hybrid/controller mode.

as an update, I've updated all of my drivers and have a 5.1 BT dongle and still is not recognizing the controller. I've been through steam and can still use the controller but cannot use the bow at all. Im at a loss on what else I can do. This is a mess for sure.

I've also tested out on other games in uplay and seems to be an issue only to this game.

@shadowofsaints my bluetooth dongle is 4.0 and my DS4 and DS5 pad both work via bluetooth for Steam games I can't get either to work through Uplay. I can use my DS4 pad via wired connection but I hate having wires everywhere and I don't understand why Uplay posts a notification telling me a controller is detected but then doesn't allow me to use it.

I have the same problem with DS4 controller, wired is fine but wireless won't work, although whether wired or using BT a UbiConnect popup appears with the same controller connected message.

However, the Options>Controls windows states the controller as being "Wireless Controller" when it is wired! I doubt there is even an option for "Wired Controller" or just "Controller", yet wireless BT doesn't even work. SMH, the bugs in this game are atrocious.

To get the PS5 DualSense controller working in any game you can do the following:

1. Add the game to your steam library (add a game - non-steam game and select .exe)
2. Start big-picture mode (check controller settings in setting of big picture mode to ensure it's working correctly)
3. Start the game through big picture mode (and keep it open)

The game will now work with a ps5 controlller, unfortunately the game doesn't have PS controller icons (whilst previous games did on pc), so you'll just see Xbox controller icons.
