Some more information. Now the wolf appears in the longhouse but I still did not receive the "Man's Best Friend" Perk.

I did the quest which is supposed to unlock some wolf call ability but it never showed up in my ability menu? I have seen a lot of people saying the same thing in their comments on Youtube. It really sucks because it seems like a real cool ability to have. I hope you can fix this Ubisoft and give the players that have completed the quest access to the ability!

i finished mans best friend quest and the abilty did not unlock and i finshed the way of the berserker and the wolf didnt show in my stabels. My satlement is already level 4 and 30hours in game

I have the same issue & I'm on PS4. Settlement is level 3, Wolf is lying in the sun outside longhouse but I never got the ability. I don't actually think I got the notification for it as I wasn't even aware of it until I saw a youtube video.

I also didn't get the skill once completing the quest. The quest progressed fine (as far as I could tell), the wolf hangs around the long house, moves around a few times, and Eivor talks to it while walking past. I have since found the Man's Best Friend ability from a skillbook.

So I’m curious, I have the skill (or had before the game deleted 11 hours of progress) but I am unable to ever use it or the raven distraction even with full adrenaline. Even when I had two full bars thinking it might take extra and still they’re grayed out and never able to use either. Wolf just stays in the longhouse by my bed. Is it supposed to actually travel with you? Or magically teleport and jump on screen when you need it?

Also have that issue on PC, I'm like 40 hours into the game now and I think I did that quest like 20 hours back. I don't even have a save that far back now to go back to. No idea I was supposed to get an ability as the ability gained thing did not pop up. I do remember the wolf wasn't with the kids when the quest cleared.

Honestly, knowing I missed on this ability for the last 20 hours sucks. Why do I buy Ubi games day 1 again?

Apparently, the only way to fix this is to replay the mission AND DON'T LET THE WOLF STRAY OFF. The wolf needs to be present when your final conversation with the children happens. I'd shoot all the distractions in the path i.e. the wild animals, so dwolfg wouldn't stray off.

Also having the same issue, thought I completed the quest 10 hours back in my playthrough, didn't realise there was an ability reward because I never received one.

I haven't found a solution yet, my settlement is now tier 5 and I still dont have the ability. I just hope ubisoft can get a patch out soon.

Same for me on PC, this is a bug that many people are getting. When I look at Youtube videos about this ability and how cool it is, almost 50 percent of the comments are about how the quest didn't give them the ability at the end! I really hope Ubisoft notices this post, I also made a post about it, but yours is more detailed with the correct name of the quest. I believe if the wolf chases something at the end of the quest it bugs out, at least that is what happened to me! I'm way past this point as I didn't know how to fix it at the time, so I hope they can give us the ability if the quest has been completed!

the ability mans best friend does not activate. even when i seem to completed the rescuing the wolf from house then going back to camp but still does not work and the wolf just walks in and around longhouse. plus the quest does not show up or say its been completed on the quest lists. thank you would like an update when possible.

@cainisubi this is a running issue on so many reddit boards I really hope patch fixes this as I’m too far along to go back!

@hardcobra3053 there are solutions on reddit but requires starting mission over ... apparently you need run very slow and stay by the Wolf the whole time even towards end.
