From time I played... I'm very disappointed about Valhalla, even AC 2 was better. In the first place the resources, worst possible. If you want to play decent you need to buy a 2000-3000 euros PC. The story and the gameplay is low in comparation with Odyssey. The combat is worst ever. The best combat in my opinion was in AC 2, Origins and Odyssey. All the game seems like you play in the dark, even in the daylight. I'll add more in time, I'm sure will be more....
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

So you played for like an hour or 2? Because the combat is identical or close to atleast to ac odyssey. I can't comment on the story as I haven't progressed far enough yet on it. There's also a very clear difference between day and night, so it sounds more like your monitor / tv isn't configured correctly to me.
Also.. You don't really need a 2 to 3k pc to play it, it's perfectly playable on a 1k to 1500 computer.
Yeah me too, I'm seriously disappointed. I knew it would be difficult for the team to beat Odyssey because I absolutely LOVED Cassandra and the whole game play and story they gave us last time. Big big fan of Odyssey! So this game which has gone in nearly the opposite direction to Odyssey has me sad.
Female Eivor, looks and sounds like a bloke. so much so that I think I might be better off playing as male Eivor. I'm in early days yet so maybe Ill get used to 'the face and voice that only a mother could love.'
Character customisation is so poor I think they should have left it out. Tattoos ok if you like tattoos, they are useful to cover unattractive faces, (meow) The hairstyles (2) are really butch, plaits and bald.
Cassandra managed to be powerful and capable but still feminine and attractive. In Odyssy every feature was done to perfection in my eyes. The armour and weapon drops, the range of looks you could create while still being protected and viable..in this game only a few armours, that you have to upgrade, really lazy design choice imo. For another studio Id say fair enough but for this studio that have the skills and the abilities Id say its being cheap.
When I loot an enemy I love getting a nice load of loot. In this game theres nothing, a little sparkle and no word of how much money or what it might have been. Exploring doesn't seem like much of a focus in this game as there is little to no reward.
Story doesnt grab me yet and it needs to grab you. I paid 100 for the Gold Edition and I am regretting it.
The long boats, huge disappointment, lacking details and the ability to level and make it nicer and more functional. Riding in the long boats feels like you are looking at a little tonka toy on the screen and graphically very poorly executed.
How about this chasing things over rooftops? I hated that in Black Flag and Im hating that now, ridiculous.
Are there going to be any useful assassination tools like poisons and blowpipes and berserk darts? Just loved using thos tools but havent seen any sign of those yet either. Plus those sidequests that have no description in the quest list, please put a description of sidequest in quest list, my husband and I spent ages online trying to find out what this npcs quest was because I was showing him how awful eivors voice is and we missed what needed to be done for the quest.
I do like the little banter skald moments. They are good fun and have a real point as far as increasing charisma cause this Eivor she needs all the charisma she can get. I know loads of people are probably loving the hack and slashy 'just kill em all' theme of this game, but I think it lacks the class, the detail and perfection that was Odyssy.
I didn't found a mini-map/compass in the menus, if that's only compass, in the upper middle is useless. You never know where the objectives are exactly... I spent very long time to find those points of interest.
Another annoying thing is that flying text "with the fire is burning", "water is shivering", "birds chirping", I didn't found any option to disable it. The map looks so limited !"open world"!, it looks so small, and nothing on it. Looks like you finished already the game from the start of playing.
Yes, I agreed with those flying things to capture, like Cell1e, I never liked them and I never finish to capture them in previously games, and I surely will not do it in Valhalla.
Female Eivor I think is the same character with Cassandra from Odyssey.
@syrellaris I have an I7-4790k / 16Gb Ram / GTX970. I don't have money to invest on a new procc and new mother board and new graphic card, new ram, (my pc is at the edge, it cannot be adjusted, I must change everything, besides graphic card who can be added to this computer. And all this just for playing Valhalla who is really a disappointing from the series of AC.
I'm very happy that I bought only the Basic version. I always buy the basic, to be sure I'll not pay for nothing. I bet, if there was a beta of this game a lots of people had choose to not buy it or at least not now at the full price. And when the game will be cracked, and i'm sure will be, more people who will realize that the game is not wort it, not at this price.
"if that's only compass, in the upper middle is useless. You never know where the objectives are exactly"
I strongly disagree. To me, the compass is very, very helpful. Not as helpful when you're very close to the objective you're looking for, but combined with map markes and Odin's sight, I don't have any issues at all here.
I don't want people to understand me wrong. I like Assassin's Creed from the beginning and I own the entire collection. So I bought Valhalla as well. For example AC3 I didn't like it much but I finish it. The rest, even UNITY, who was not very good rated I loved it. So for sure I'll buy all AC who will be released, but I'll always share my points of view/opinion about this game.
@netspook Yes it's about when you are close to the location, that's the main problem, not at distance.
you are correct the whole game from top to bottom is absloutely horrid in comparison to oddessey. nothing in the game has direction. your best course is just to follow the alliance story. trying to do contracts there is no update with your completion it just says 10. the whole game feels unfinished. combat is so damn wonky. it is definately not Oddessey . the trees are a mess of just thrown together passives and everything is hidden so you cant really plan a build at all. the only worhtwhile tree is raven im baffeled how this damn game got out the door.
First time I have been disappointed in the AC series, fight mechanics are really really bad, AC:OD/AC:O had much much better and more fluid fighting. Graphics are really bad. For instance during the dream sequence there was a super super low rez shadow, then another slightly super low rez shadow. Odins pulse is a super low rez cyan. NPC faces look like 10 year old graphics, voices/sounds are not in sync. During AC:OD I was in awe on how good it looked, this game is the complete opposite. Fire still melts you stupid fast, how is this still a thing? Seems this was released unfinished and I am sure I did not feel this same way when I pre-ordered AC:OD/AC:O. I agree with one of the other posters, seems like 2 steps back. Graphics wise they went 5-6 years back in time.
In before the trolls: Yes I realize I should have waited but I didn't. I am also not going to follow up on this post, just adding my voice to the disappointment.
@ooarch1medeoo yes i bit on this one because Oddessey was so damn good . Ubi played the franchise its horrible
I dont know if any one else agrees but:
Ubi needs to do some major updates to Valhalla asap. This game is a disappointment, they need to reimplement some of the map mechanics of Odyssey on this game as well as tagging targets, tagging near by loot instead of using that compass bar thing at the top of screen which is useless.
Fix button configuration on playstation so buttons don't conflict because they changed the entire fighting & control mechanics of Valhalla from all the other AC games that have been released.
As well as story isnt bad but graphics look like you went back 2 to 3 generations. Odyssey looked better than this.
You leveling system was fun. The legendary armour was nice. The ability to sell armour for money & break it down for supplies was awesome in Odyssey.
The rations make sense in a fight but let him heal over time when not fighting like a normal person.
Oh & where it says upgrading armour lowers health, in what world does that make any sense? It doesn't. Its [censored]. These games you gain more health & armour to implement & protect it or increase it because of the armour.
Ubisoft, I dont know what you were think or who you listened to but you took all the best aspects of the upgrades you gave Assassins Creed Odyssey & destroyed them.
Im glad you brought back the hidden blade & the brotherhood. The storyline works but the mechanics are horrible.
Because the combat is identical or close to atleast to ac odyssey.
Umm no it's not, I have Odyssey and that is totally false.
yes i bit on this one because Oddessey was so [censored] good.
Odyssey was absolutely horrible. A lot of things in that game were 100% useless and had no point such as conquests and recruiting. Both of those mechanics had explanation how to use them..Example once you recruited someone, where in the game did they go? After you recruited someone were you somehow supposed to be able to play as them or something..I didn't understand that at all.
Even winning a conquest was baffling as nothing happened in the game that changed anything.
Yeah those 2 systems were abysmal failures not only for having no reason to be in the game, but more so there is no instructions for their use even if you did succeed.
So putting mechanics like those in a game is a total waste.
@s_tanner I wasn't talking about those 2 mechanics. I was talking about the overall mechanics of the game play itself, armour, armour upgrades, button configuration which is all jacked up now, map & map configuration which is screwed up now, can't tag enemies, Odins vision/eagle vision is horrible, crow/eagle is useless, glowing dots are confusing for side quest & treasures, & when you get close they disappear as well as that compass at the top is useless.
Need legendary armour back. Better fighting mechanics, and stuff like that from Odyssey.
@chevy_man2010 In some ways Odyssey raised the bar to high. They are probably out of ideas when it comes to improving on such a epic game. All games are now measure against Odyssey by many gamers.
Gamers that use Odyssey as a baseline to compare anything to, are clueless and cannot be taken serious.
Using Odyssey as a baseline of comparison, is the exact same thing as using a cartoon that has driving in it, as a comparison when people talk about accidents in real life.
@gravelmead You may be right. But once you create a game like that. You may not can improve on it a great deal & it will be hit & miss but when you know mechanics work you stick with it.
Im not saying copy Odyssey. Im saying take the basic game play mechanics & apply them to Valhalla. Tagging enemies, button configuration on playstation, no chasing codex pages, no using compass at top of screen but using the same mission tagging & side quest alerts as Odyssey/no glowing dots, better armour drops/being able to sell armour or break it down for supplies, get legendary armour, legendary weapons, being able to naturally recover when not fighting instead of using rations, saving rations for when in fights, & things like that.
