Stuck in ‘The Swan-Road Home’ quest, can anybody help me with this please?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

I show up to ragnarssons encampment in england and apparently theres supposed to be a fight triggered followed by a cutscene but neither happen for me on Xbox One S. Quest details dont show up either.

@LoMein Thank you for contacting us.

Are there no Bandits in the camp when you arrive? There should be some dialogue from Sigurd and then when you dock it should play a Cutscene.

Are you able to Dock or get of the ship or are you stuck on it?

One thing we'd certainly advise, if you haven't already is reloading an older save and clearing your consoles cache with a power cycle.

@ubi-baron I have the same problem. What happened on mine is I did get a cut scene first time round but I died then when I respawned it was like I couldn't carry on with the quests. Now it just says I'm on the swan road quest but I have no way of progressing it. I didn't know what was going on at first and I have done a few raids and other things for around 9 hours just to realise I can't progress the quest. If this can't be fixed and I have to restart from a previous save I would rather not a d ask for my money back

@lukeb283 Thank you for getting back to us.

Could you provide us with a video or screenshots of what Ravensthrope looks like in your Save?

    Hi,
I'm stuck in Swan - Road home. The raid started as expected but I died in the battle and now the mission won't restart. Tried some other activities on the map before returning, but still nothing.

@ubi-baron I can't because it wont let me upload a picture. Can someone just fix it soon because I'm feeling like asking for a refund in the next few days if its not fixed.

@lukeb283 You can upload the image to a hosting site such an Imgur or for a video to YouTube and then link them here.

This would be the best way to provide that.

After dropping the chain in Grantebridgescire and getting back into the longship, the cut scene never happens. The NPCs talk for a few minutes but the boat never leaves. The game says "Reach Haldan's Settlement" at the top left but the longship just sits at the shore of Grantebridgescire. NPCs occasionally get up and stretch, I guess they're bored too. The map is available but no actions are possible, Eivor is stuck in his seat with only the ability to look around, he can't get up or do anything else. I've tried reloading, playing through the section again to make sure that I completed everything but to no avail. It sounds like a bug similar to some others that make it unable to progress, but I haven't been able to find any referencing this part of the game.

I am on an Xbox One Elite system, patch is 1.0.2.

@ubi-baron that's long. I have requested a refund. Ain't waiting any longer, who knows how long it's going to take to sort this problem out and I can see plenty more problems people are coming across.

I've been stuck between completion of the small mission of dropping the chain at the river mouth and the cutscene for over a week. Eivor gets back in the longship, some conversation takes place but the ship never leaves. I posted to these forums last week but never got a reply from support. Have not been able to reach anyone at Ubisoft to even acknowledge the problem. I haven't seen anyone else report being stuck in the place where I am. I was hoping the update this morning would fix it, but behavior is identical. I am incredibly disappointed that not only a mere 10 hours into this game I can no longer progress, but Ubisoft support also appears impossible to engage to get any help.

I haven't played in two weeks as I've been waiting for the inevitable patch. It now crashes more.

Before, I'd get quite a way through the cutscene, sometimes past the baptism in the river, before it would freeze with the audio carrying on. Now, the first time I loaded I got less than a second. After changing loads of graphics settings to see if it made a difference, it now either goes to a black screen after I click load, or the load screen immediately freezes. I've tried loading older saves as well. These crashes were happening all the time before this cutscene as well, it's just that this seems to be one that persistent restarts can't get me through.

I can't even run the benchmark on lowest graphical settings. It immediately freezes.

    RTX2070 SUPER with latest drivers.

I've gone to fill in a support case, but my only option to submit is a disabled livechat button.

I'm fully expecting there's nothing I can do, the game just isn't ready, and maybe a patch in March will give me some value for the £50 I spent.

I've played more than 10 hours since I got stuck in this quest, so no chance I'm just starting a new game.

After breaking the chain in the quest, I've gotten back on my ship and gone to Halfdans Settlement. Here I meet the fake vikings, kill them, and nothing happens - when I go to my longhouse, nothing is there.

Hence I am stuck in this quest, and cannot continue.

I have tried verifying my files (playing on PC), changing my graphics settings, loading different save games, travelling back/forth to Norway etc etc etc. I cannot get around the bug?!

@slenderella I'm also stuck here - not because I died, at least as far as I remember, but all my map legends of the quest are gone, and nothing happens once I've broken the chain, gone back to my ship, and sailed to the settlement.

I have the exact same issue on PC, started in patch 1.0.3 but continues in 1.0.4.
