I managed ot played hours withotu crash yesterday and right now 2 crashes in 30m.. it's driving me crazy
I found the solution to my issue. Here below is what I did to fix it :
1- Backup all my saved game files.
2- Delete all cache files
3- Uninstall and re-install the game
4- Install VC_redist.x64.exe from this link : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
I think step 4 is enough, but I did step 1 to 3 before I found the VC_redist solution on another forum.
Now everything is working fine
Hope that helps players with same issue.
I've crashed a lot during this game, so many times I've lost count, but it hasn't happened in a while. Took a few days off after getting aggravated by some visual bugs, now whenever I get near Bercthun in Hamtunscire I CTD constantly. Tried 5 times so far, I don't know if the problem is something related with Bercthun or if that's a coincidence but I cannot kill this Zealot. Please fix this, I already barely care about the Order stuff, the fact I can't even complete it feels like the final slap to the face.
@ubi-swaggins You guys love asking for the DXDiag and MSinfo but we end up waiting days if not well over a week or more for a response, fix, or just no answer at all. Between these forums, chat, email, social media, and the support site, you'd think there was only one person running support with how poor every contact method is answered.
@samsonGG Thank you for reporting this to us, we're sorry to hear that's been the case.
Do you get an error message when the game crashes, if so what does the message state?
The first thing we'd advise, if you haven't already is making sure you've been through the troubleshooting steps in the guide here. These steps can help with issues such as this, as well as general system health.
OK, despite not wanting to I downgraded from the latest Nvidia driver (457.30) to the previous version (457.09) as some posts suggested that this fixed the crash issues.
The downgrade resulted in a different type of crash where Valhalla disappeared completely and took me straight back to the desktop.
The crash experienced with 457.30 takes the form of the screen freezing in-game with the sound continuing in the background. I have to kill the Valhalla process to stop the game and rerun.
So, it looks like it may an issue with the game and not Nvidia.
Hi and welcome to that prestigous club, you're not the only one : https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/84982/1-04-game-crashes-after-loading-any-save
I should add that my saves are not labeled as "Corrupt" and still the game crashes everytime i try to load one of them :
@rinks3611
As of this morning (30/11) the game has ben rolled back to 1.2.0 but, surprise surprise, all game saves are flagged as corrupted and the only option is to start a new game.
75 hours down the drain then.
I have no heart to start again...
@incabuloss yep mine are the exact same. I think part of the issue might be doing a manual save over the cloud save, which is the same thing I did too. There's no way they couldn't fix this issue if they spent an hour looking into it. It's obvious something in the 1.04 update needs to be reverted or changed.
Same here, after 1.04 the game freezes and crashes regularly. Had no issues before the patch with 80+ hours played.
When is Freezing / Crashing of this game, occurring on ALL systems, going to be added to the Problems Mega Thread? It appears that Ubisoft does not see this as a game problem.
@redindianrobin great for nVidia users, but AMD users are seeing crashes as well, and we're not sure what driver to rollback to.
Some have tried going all the way back to a driver from last year and still getting crashes. This is definitely a game issue, and your driver version may just have some type of issue that inadvertently creates a workaround....while offering suboptimal performance as it's not a "gameready" driver for this game.
@shadywack Yes. Something's [censored] with the API I am guessing, since this is AC team's first DX12 title. While the old driver gives the same performance as game ready in my case, there are some odd lighting and texture flickering happening in some indoor areas. But I guess I can live with that for now as long as I can play for hours without a single crash.
@ubi-baron
No just straight to desktop.
And your troubleshooting tips are terrible. Of course I've made sure my drivers are up to date. I've verified the files about 5 times since installing. I mean, let's just be honest, this game has been terrible since lauch in terms of performance. No problems with other games, just this one. But sure, maybe magically my drivers are out of date
@shadywack
Not to mention that i would NEVER downgrade my Graphicsdriver for a single buggy game. Especialy not for an AC Title...
@razorchain apparently they're rolling back to 1.02 today but all that progress you've made if you have saved since the 1.04 update is about to be completely unusable and people are losing hours worth of progress, some up to over 100 hours with the game already, completely gone.
Hardware: Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5700, 16 GB Ram, 1TB SSD.
Latest Drivers and everything.
Every other Game runs fine and stable.
Thx for your response, hope you are working on it and you can fix it. Keep us up to date. Some community work by Ubisoft can not hurt
