I find it hard to believe that this assassins creed is lacking in the weapons department. I mean there is only a handful of weapons and hardly any different variation of armours in the game. There feels like no freedom with our character and playstyle. After odyssey which had a massive amount of weaponry and what felt like hundreds of different armour types that gave us the freedom of what our character was wearing. As much as valhalla is a major improvement to the assassins creed franchise, but the lack of weapons and armours is a pretty big downgrade.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Agree. collecting armor, weapon stuff visual is my fav part in Odyssey, this is truly a huge downgrade compare to Odyssey, and the animation with combat is kinda meh compare to Origin !
Hey Baby_Hipp0 1,
Thanks for the feedback.
How far are you in the game and which weapons have you discovered so far?
As you explore the world you should be able to find more. The same goes for the gear. We have plenty of sets scattered around England.
If you love customizing your character, note that upgrading your gear will change its visuals too!
I agree, when you see the number of weapons Odyssey has, Valhalla does a poor job.
I have already discovered all the types of weapons in the game and frankly it is not huge.
My only wish was to have a two-handed hammer, but there isn't one. Even Odyssey had hammers while the Greeks didn't!
In short ... even if the visual of the weapons and armor changes (even if I would like that we can modify the visual as we wish), that does not modify the fact that there are very few weapons.
The enemies in the game have more types of weapons than the player, that's sad.
The game is really enjoyable but these black points are taking up a lot of space.
I was wondering why i couldn't sell weapons and gear. But it is becoming more apparent that I won't need to as there just isn't that much to collect.
@baby_hipp0 Actually there's a decent amount alot of them are scattered around the map at later power levels. But you can go there and get them pretty easily if you want like I did.
Some of them are locked behind quests.
To date I have found
5 bows
3 daggers
4 bearded axes (including dlc)
3 light shields
2 heavy shields
1 spear (other one I know of is locked in a quest)
2 Great swords
3 Dane Axes
1 Flail
1 Hammer
and there's probably at least a dozen more out there that I haven't found. To me this is a pretty good selection, the perks on these weapons aren't as good as ACOD. Having too many weapons as well is a pain.
What is missing of which I am dumbfounded is that there is no 1H sword!!! and no JAVELINS! most used missile weapons by the vikings.
UBI please add these to a DLC that is coming!!
Yeah i am quite annoyed the option to sell or break down unwanted items is taken away from us as i like to get rid of what i dont use.
why is therr great swords but no broad swords or single handed swords ? What a dumb decision.
and there is a massive lack of variety, they hyped this up so much and released it with less content, more bugs and frankly under achieving.
@baby_hipp0 @royalgear1 I don't think this is the right place on the forums for this post. But I will react on it anyway. I think its great not having all those weapons. In odyssey it was truly an overkill of gear and weapons. In this game they made a choice to make weapons and gear a little more special. This means you have to play missions and do a lot of tressure hunting to get it. However I don't think it is a bad thing, it is different yes. But I like it. Makes it much more managaeble and special to find stuff! In odyssey I was getting tired of all that gear I kept on finding, nothing special about it anymore.
@kuratoro agreed.
Although I wish there was at least a bit more variety in weapon designs we can use, I still prefer it to the RNG loot nonsense we've had for the past two games. It brings me back to the better better days and games of Assassin's Creed (in my opinion).
Also kind of irks me seeing all the cool armor and weapon sets in the store, but that's just Ubisoft being Ubisoft, I guess lol.
@ubi-whiteroom No he wont lol. I dont know what pass as plenty for you but 10 sests obtainable simply by going to the dot on the map is not plenty, thats a poor game design, but if you dont see the problem then ok. Odyssey had planty of amors and weapons, compared to that Valhalla is a joke.
Where are armors as rewards for quests and doing side activities? Where are armors for killing zealots, bosses and other tough opponents? Where are some historically accurate normal looking armors like NPCs wear? You are stuck with 10 visually very simillar and ugly looking armors, seriously this game is so dissapointing in terms of loot and rewards.
Instead of excuses rather please make content this game deserves.
@ubi-whiteroom the gear/loot system sucks. what was the purpose of stripping us of this? so we'd buy Helix credits? so far the only sick gear looks to be through the store....
@ubi-whiteroom this was a joke right? Please tell me your joking.
anyone who’s played valhalla knows it is severely lacking in weapons and armor in such a bad way that it’s actually mind boggling how it happened, but with the official response we got here it’s clear the folks at ubi don’t listen to fans at all.
This official reply kinda proves that
@frosthound030
I personally prefer the way weapons and gear works in this game as opposed to odyssey. In odyssey it was just randomly generated and I would spend hours trying to get a weapon with that stats that I wanted. Here I do prefer how one piece of armor or weapon can take you through the whole game if you can upgrade it. I also prefer how the stats/runes work in this game. Sure now I am just farming for runes, but I have majority of the runes I want, plus since they technically do not give that much of an increase I do not feel the need to try to farm these runes. I know I am probably in the minority here, but I do like how the weapons and armor feel more unique, as opposed to hundred's of hundred's randomly generated gear.
They've gone from one extreme to another.... It's nice having fewer pieces of gear, but the weapon department is severely lacking (no one handed swords?!) as is the armors. I genuinely do appreciate having fewer pieces of gear, but it's too few now. Not really much of visual customisation (cant change the appearance of gear and late game gear looks rubbish). Just adding some more weapons and a 2 or 3 more armor sets. Like it's be awesome to get a one handed sword or other unique weapon for taking down a zealot, then get a chainmail armor set from wiping out a branch of the order. would make a huge difference to and actually add an incentive to killing bosses and the order. The current rewards aren't worth the time in my opinion.
@fiendtron84 it does feel better having only unique pieces of gear, but there's too few now to actually work towards. I completely agree with you, I don't want a return to Oddysey just sought reskins of weapons, just a few more choices and to be able to customise its appearance (like have the stats of end game gear, but the appearance of early game gear)
All the good weapons and armor sets were held back to be released later in the helix store. So there's more than enough of everything, you just have to pay extra for it. You have to remember this is Ubisoft.
can we please get some more gear that isn't tied to the real pay money store?
Trying to be constructive:
The large selection of different weapons and armor was a great feature in Odyssey.
The visual upgradability of weapons and armor in Valhalla has a nice touch, but is insufficient with the shortage of gear to collect an choose from. (I'm 10h into the game and still wear the same stuff from the first mission, but not because I want to, but because there'S nothing else.)
The loot system + disenchanting and upgrading was better in Odyssey.
Please just add the visual upgrading feature to how EVERYTHING ELSE was in Odyssey for the next game and we're all happy.
You don't have to reinvent the wheel for every expansion. Odyssey was great for its loot system, combat and skill+talent features. It just lacked choice flexibility in the main story and aspects from the older AC games, (which happily are now reintegrated again).
@n0rsebear 'winning' Odyssey for me was all about going for a crit warrior stick-wielder build. So i 'farmed' smiths to find items with the right combination of stats. Very rewarding but not very much fun. Like the exchangable runes for effects in ACV very much.
Personally, I like the fact that the equipment is rarer. It gives the impression that they are more precious and I feel pleased when I finally find one. I especially think that the armor are cooler and better designed. I love updraging them and see them changes (even if it's not a lot some times).
Having said that, however, I do agree that it still lacks a bit of variety. The team may have gone a bit too far making the stuff rare.
