Forster: Is to slow - for a good production we need 4 lumbers and 4 sawmills. With fish as booster.
AI: what you have done to them? Improvement to stop building and exploring.
Normally they where knocking on my door very really, so that it was some kinda challenging.
Now the don't leave the base, they don't have big military.
Game freezes when he try to save, i have to switch to desktop and go back to play again.
Players don't endorse anybody, neither i can endorse more than 1 player per match.
Multiplayer waiting time in casual...
"I still don't understand why this is multiplayer based", while previous The Settlers are solo player based.
2vs2 casual minimum 5 minutes waiting time, 80% of the players leave within the first 10 minutes, either disconnect, or just leave.
4vs4 casual minimum 15 minutes waiting time, 80% of 1-2 players leave due disconnect or just leave.
This is by far the worst The Settlers i ever played.
Stop forcing us to play this in multiplayer, make it solo player.
Increase population limit.
Rework the entire economy.
Bread, meat and grapes are overrated and not even needed.
99% of the time, i don't build them, for what?
To take up space and population?
Oh but now you can say, you can sell them at the harbor.
No need to build a harbor, the money is useless.
Stone roads and donkey carriers, waste of resources and population.
Since you can research that carriers can use cards on dirt roads.
3 characters to choose from, not enough.
Maps, 4 maps for each matchmaking so 1vs1, 2vs2 and 4vs4. Not enough.
This get bored so fast.
I hope that good changes coming soon, this game is seriously a joke.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@Don_TGR Donkeys really need a rework imo. Other than carrying more stuff long distance they're useless. Once you're set up in an area you can get everything you want. Donkeys dont seem to be used for ferrying goods from one warehouse to another when you set stock levels. They don't assist with smaller building projects. They have only one use it seems, long distance goods transfer for new buildings. I never build them anymore because they just feel pointless and a waste of effort. They need to be made more useful. Have them assist with all building projects. They are after all the trucks of their time.
Also when you deplete carriers because you have no idea how many are going to be used to make your buildings, you can go from 30 to 0 in about 3 seconds which leaves everything becoming really slow. I get this is a mechanic and that's fine, however Engineers that are idle should then pick up the slack and help out too.
I agree on the population too. 1000 would be ideal. I'm guessing it was kept this way because of consoles. Plus the game seems to crash if you build over 70 houses or too many buildings.
I really just wish the devs would get rid of the closed map selection. Players should be able to play on any of the maps without having to jump into multiplayer to do so.
@Asmordeus85 Thank you mate for you input.
If you build your city infrastructure right, no use of donkeys and stone roads.
I am still the only one who is building like this, and i watch everybody who is in the match with me.
How people build is, no thought to it.
Idle engineers, you should never have idle engineers. And i think they don't need to pick up resources.
What could to be improved is, that the construction queue could become manageable.
As you already mentioned, the donkey carriers need a rework.
If you depleted you carriers, your are not building enough homes.
What also not many players do, to be fair enough, that is not my focus in early game too.
Defense is my focus, than the population. Than you can focus on other things.
I never had my game crashed for to many buildings.
Since you don't need more than 50 houses for full population.
If you research the population increase at full. You don't even need to give the bread boost for the houses.
I try to build my city the most efficient way with no obstacle. I never rush military.
The only thing i rush, are my boarders defense towers.
Hello everyone!
Thank you for the feedback on the last update.
We're happy to see players theorycrafting and discussing the changes that arrived last Thursday.
This thread contains a lot of points and questions that we'd be happy to add more information about.
Also there's a Developer's Insight coming soon about these topics for additional insights and context.
- The forester now produces 1 log per minute. Sawmills' cycle is faster than these, so you may want to have more foresters than sawmills.
-> You may consider giving your logging camps Food boost to obtain more logs than your sawmill can cut. This can allow you to split the yield to produce more foresters.
- AIs can now choose among multiple strategies. Sometimes they will be aggressive, sometimes turtly.
-> Work on these will continue as we iterate and see how players react to it.
- Player endorsing is currently being promoted by the weekly challenge. We hope more players share the love this way!
- The Settlers has always been played in a myriad of different ways. Some players prefer solo, others multiplayer. We hope that with Hardcore mode and campaign everyone can find their fit.
-> If you're in the search of a particular multiplayer size match, joining communities or organizing with others can help. For solo matchmaking, 1v1 will probably yield the fastest matchup.
- Food boosting is much more relevant in multiplayer matches. As soon as you have infinite time to work with, being efficient is not very important.
- Since the sawmill change we've seen a lot more players explore the use of Stone for roads. We hope that a new value is found for it, as an alternative to that powerful research.
- Donkey carts currently have 3 uses: between warehouses, from warehouse to harbor, and to building sites that require more than 5 of a material. While they are very limited in their use, they're very good at what they do.
-> A bigger issue we see is that players don't often see a need to recruit new ones because most skirmish maps give some for players to begin with. We will look into this behavior in the future.
- The population limit is currently thought of as a challenge to balance between economy and military. There are currently no plans to change it.
- We will share news about new maps when we're ready to show them.
We're always reading the community comments on our changes.
As the strategies of our players evolve, it is important always to make sure we're not removing fun from the game.
Cheers,
Your The Settlers DEV-Team
The forester now produces 1 log per minute.
Don't you think this is much too slow?
If I remember correctly, a forester costs 10 logs + 3 tools, so 13 logs or even more for other factions than Maru.
So you have to wait at least 14 minutes so that you get a positive result from the forester which is around 1/2 or 1/4 of the duration of a PVP match. In my opinion it is much too slow.
I think 1 log per 30 seconds would be better.
@ChrisGansler Hi Chris,
Thank you for taking the time reading this subject.
But let me break down a few things.
And therefor it changes everything. Why should i give them a boost of food, that decreases my carriers. Because now they are a working force.
@Don_TGR I am not sure whether we're playing the same game. 4x4 lumber/sawmill production is such an overkill - maybe for mid game only. It is just fine as it is right now imho.
I would totally HATE if the game switched from multiplayer! Many people like this approach. If you want better multiplayer matches, join the discord so you can match up. It has been mentioned on the forums many times.
Bread not even needed?! If you say this, I immidiatelly know that I'd absolutely destroy you in a 1v1. This does not need reworking, you just need to play better man, honestly, no offense. If youre building 4x4 lumber and sawmill with foresters, I immidiatelly know you're not pushing enoiugh for regrowing forests, you're focusing resources to build unnecessary produciton and threfore you can't win in the long game. I understand it causes frustration, but it is not the game's fault.
That being said, crashes and issues with AI are a problem, that is true.
@Daranyx I don't play PvP, neither i ever will. Why? You all to toxic. You just describe yourself.
I don't need and want that anymore.
Neither i am looking for a support groups.
You don't know anything of my play style, and yet you make allegations.
That's toxic, and i have enough of you people. Don't write in my post anymore.
Thank you.
@Don_TGR
Good afternoon,
after looking for the Updates infos, i stumbled on ths thread... For me it seems, i play a different game. I only play "offline/solo" and yes, i would love to play in a 4vs4 or even bigger.
Stone roads and Donkeys are really important if you got one resource on one side and the other way on the other side of the map. With a nice setup you get a great system working.
Without it, you need alone 7 persons for 1 donkey. In long term, this makes you by far slower than using it. Thats my opinion (no exp. in PVP).
What i really hate now is the AI. With 7 Building destructors, i win a normal game after a few minutes, as the AI does not construct anything and runs with it 3 rangers to the bandits to die...
There is no possibility to choose difficulty. I won one of the hardcore things, which was actually nice but this week i got these waves coming at me and until now, i could not figure it out and stresses me :(.
Wouild like to have Casual, hard, harder, harcore and to play harcore, you have to win the others first...
Thank you and have a nice afternoon.
Zax
