as per title: Nvidia Driver 531.18 causes freeze / crash in ac origins (i have GTX 1660 SUPER)
I solved by restoring the old drivers: 528.49
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hey there @AlePlay and @TheLongWalker
I'm sorry to hear that the new Nividia Driver update may have caused you some crashing and freezing issues, I can understand why this might be frustrating.
Thank you for providing a temporary work around as well @AlePlay, I would suggest you use this for now.
I've passed on the information to the relevant teams, please keep an eye on the forums and official Ubisoft social channels for any updates on this.
If you have any other concerns or questions in the meantime, just let me know!
I have the same problem i dive under whater and it just crashes the game to desktop
(RTX 4080 OC, I7 13700K)
@Gabry22 I got this same problem. I'm using the latest Nvidia drive and it always crash when I dive on Alexander's temple
Same issue here. I'm rocking an RTX 2060 6GB and I was always able to play on high/ultra without any hitches. The last time I launched Origins was 6 months ago, so I don't have a direct comparison between the last and current drivers, but now I can't go through most missions without having the game freeze and hang - especially underwater.
I cannot roll my drivers back, I work on my PC and it's mandatory for me to have those updated for some tools/apps, plus I also play a game that needs Nvidia's most up-to-date drivers to launch and work properly.
It's the same story with every driver update for me, if not for Origins, then for Odyssey. It's been a while, folks, please tell me you found a solution that would just let us play in peace and not force us to tamper with our drivers 15 times a day.
Thanks for chiming in everyone!
I can confirm that this issue has been reported to the appropriate teams and is currently under investigation. When we have an update it will be posted on the forums here.
In the meantime, could you all try the steps listed in our PC Technical issues guide, as well as our PC Graphical issues guide, to see if any improvements are made?
+1 to Random Complete Lockups. Once underwater, three times while flying Suna. No crash to desktop, just complete game freeze with music still playing. Task manager to force the app to close. 4 complete lockups in under an hour, enough that I will never bother playing again unless I see some official patch statement.

All latest OS and graphics drivers as of 3/6, all background apps closed, fresh reboot, full admin rights.
Hello @phirewind
Thank you for your feedback on this issue.
We have reported this issue to the game team for further investigation and we'll get back to you as soon as we have an answer.
In the meantime, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask and we will do our best to help you !
wow thanks for the solution, i thought i cannot play this beautiful game anymore
Same thing happens with latest hotfix from Nvidia.
Please solve this, game is not playable at the moment.
@AlePlay same issue occurring to me as well.
my specs are
Core i5 10600k
Nvidia RTX 3060 TI
!6 GB DDR4 RAM
@Blejac_14 Isn't it up to Nvidia to solve this? They broke the game not Ubisoft who hasn't changed the code in over a year
This is why I don't recommend upgrading drivers without a good reason (New game, bug/secuity fix, etc.) because neither Nvidia or AMD test their new drivers with game that are over 2 years old because it's just not practical. So they only way they know they broke a game is for you to report it to Nvidia so they can fix it next month (Don't expect a hotfix for one game not many people are playing) The solution is to downgrade your drivers and wait for a fix from Nvidia but that relies on you and most everyone else reporting the bug to them
@carlovalle25 I reverted my drivers back and that seemed to work... for a while. Had a couple of crashes but then it worked fine. Today I tried again and as soon as it got to the loading zone where you can move the character while it prepares the level, the game hard closes. 4 times in a row. Only when I used the "hack animus" feature to create a copy of the save and tried to load THAT did it even show the popup for "oh no, crashed game" to send a crash report.
*update* 2 full reboots later, its working again with the reverted drivers.
A new version just came out:
531.29 has the same problem as its predecessor.... 531.18
