About a year ago, I enjoyed playing this game and found it to be one of the best PVE experiences I've ever had. However, the content began to feel repetitive, and as a non-ranked player who didn't play in groups, I quickly ran out of things to do. I lost many operators because my teammates were not paying attention.
Now, after a year has passed, I'm curious about the current state of the game. Is there still an active player base, and how have the updates been? For context, I play on Xbox.

Hey! I reinstalled Extraction 5 days ago on Xbox. I stopped playing it at the end of march (2022) because it started to feel repetitive.
I would say, the core gameplay is the exact same thing. They dropped some new mutations and a few enemy types in to change things up, and there is a prestige system for each OP to grind for (reward: unique outfit).
The playerbase feels normal. Before the spillover event, matchmaking was around 1-1,5 minutes, now with the event its around 1,5-2,5 minutes (EU). I dont think the playerbase is big, BUT its not that small either. Usually games with a really low player count has matchmaking problems, but Extraction has no issues like that, at least in the EU.
I would say, if you loved the game a year ago, give it a go again, there is not much to lose. Im enjoying it myself right now. I really hope the devs will still give us some updates, patches, some content tho, but this has a really small chance sadly.

@JohnMoncatkina Sorry, but this is extraction, not siege. All of those changes you mentioned only apply to Rainbow Six Siege; they didn't get applied to Rainbow Six Extraction as far as I'm aware of.
