I could not find a place on the store to leave feedback. Here it is. I dont think this is a $60 game. More like $30. Bought it for $5 so was worth it. PC specs: R5 5600, noctua l9a cooler/tp, rx6600xt, tg tcreate 32gb ddr4 3200, asus x570-I, xpg gammix s7 512gb nvme, wd green 1tb nvme.
Plenty of content. Storyline was fairly good, made sense, and plenty of spiderwebs to untangle. Spent about 36-40 in-game hours to get done 100% story missions and about 10% side missions.
The hard missions (the last mission of each of the 4 or 5 chapters) were 60% stress/40% fun (i operate at an average of 40% anxiety level on daily basis, thus more stress than fun) but certainly action packed and I suppose I should expect just as much action as there was.
    Issues:
The controls are buggy. Some of the common actions (walking, jumping, getting in cover, etc) are buggy whether doing parkour, controlling cargo drone etc. I found myself unable to avoid conflict with Albion, etc because the controls wouldnt work, thus my character would stay there whether moving oddly or totally still. When applying handbrake on nearly all vehicles, it would normally act like stopping on ice. No not swerving side-to-side, but never-ending slide forward. I jumped out many times because of this. And no, no issues with keyboard. Legion is only game I have these issues in.
The second thing that bothered me was the crashing. First had an issue with launching. A thread on the Legion forums said to add '-eac launcher' without perentheses. That got the game up and running. Then the worst of this was the constant crashing during gameplay. On Watchdogs 2 (currently), I can expect the game to crash at any random gun aiming attempt (know how to fix? let me know.). But Legion would crash anytime during gameplay, no telling when. I went through a list of things that may fix it. Specs requ? Good. Verify files? Good. Win updates? Not good. Drivers utd? Good. Switch to dx11? Yep had to do that. Running stock clocks? Same wether stock or OC. V-Sync? Same wether on or off. Interestingly, found an article about this on TheDroidGuy quote 'Your system must also be using DirectX12 to meet the minimum system requirements.' Dunno if thats the case. Found thread somewhere advising to add '-dx11' to launch commands. Did that, left DX12 on in game menu, that fixed the constant crashing. It still crashes, but rarely.
DISCLAIMER: Spoiler ahead! About 50% of the gameplay was repetitious. Irritating. But there were also 'dead' or meaningless missions. The best example would be the mission in which you help Bagley remember his past. Taking the pictures makes sense and seems cool and the story in this mission is building up to feel like maybe you will, I dont know, lead to a happy ending. But instead, you walk into the human Bagley's room, AI Bagley talks to him through the TV and gets no response, so he says goodbye to human Bagley, the operative walks out of the room, end of mission. Before walking into human Bagley's room, I thought I would be assigned to kidnap him, somehow restore AI Bagley's memories into human Bagley, and voila happy ending! That was a major bummer.
The last point to make would be the different aspects of language. Im not racist; merely pointing out issues Ubisoft created in the language. How many know the difference between the accents of Irish, Jamaican, and traditional English? In the game, there are anomalies. Some black people may sound Irish, some white people may sound Jamaican, and both are a mix of English. I laughed when a black guy talked like he was Irish. Next: Whats up with all the f***s in the game? I think Ubisoft deployed overkill with the younger generational language. Is c*** really an insault people use to talk friendly with each other?
Thank you for taking the time to read my long review of WD Legion.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@JCSBCIK7, Thanks for your review and sorry to hear about your crash issues... Reviews and reality differ from person to person, as your experience is nowhere near my experience.

    1) Watch Dogs Legion rarely crashes for me.

    2) Watch Dogs Legion is one of my top 5 all-time favorite games.

    3) I've spent over $600 on 1 Ultimate Edition (for myself on PC), and 3 Gold Editions (on PS and X-Box consoles for my 3 young adult children), in addition to purchasing every cosmetic and other items in the game, and I would have gladly spent another $1,000 or more, for every additional items, if the game would have continued to push out content.

    4) I have invested over 3000 hours of gameplay, own everything and have 100%'d everything that I have wanted and consider worthy of completion, as certain achievements that I don't consider worthy and couldn't care less about, I just ignore and consider as non existent (like the kick soccer achievement).

    5) I have been playing this game and are still playing it everyday, since the game's release.

    6) The controls are fine for the most part and there is no traditional jumping (as you have stated), in the game, however, there are rare instances where certain commands do not work as we are expecting them to work at times, as it's more a timing issue or hitting the wrong key issue, than a faulty gameplay mechanic issue.

    7) What you consider a spoiler, I for one, do not, as nothing is considered as a spoiler for myself, weather it be a game, a movie, a book, or anything else, as I always immerse myself in the moment and when I get there, and never get upset at anyone revealing the outcomes of the story and in fact, even appreciate that they do, especially, in games that have multiple endings, as I like knowing all the endings, so that I can choose the best ending that suits me and my desired outcome, and this is of utmost importance, when it comes to games that I never plan on playing for a second time. I even go to YouTube to watch all the various final outcomes, before deciding which outcome I prefer.

8-) The only mission that really upset me, was one of the final missions in a bunker, where there is an invisible line and where enemies never stop re-spawning, where the trick is to keep moving forward as the enemies will not follow you, nor pursue you, once you reach a certain spot/check point, which I found as total idiocy. Otherwise, our character will run out of ammo and be taken out by the enemy, After failing 3 times, I had to go to YouTube, in order to find the solution to this problem.

    9) I do agree with you on the language matching the various characters issue, but since all characters are randomly and procedurally generated, it's bound to happen. I just make sure that I'm happy with everyone on my team and sometimes just have to retire certain operatives who I hired based on looks, but quickly retired based on their voices. Besides, I for one, find hiring operatives, as extremely fun. To each their own!

There is no such thing as a perfect game, as we as players, will always find something that we don't like, unless we made the game ourselves and are playing to an audience of one. Take care!

'-dx11' launch command means you were playing the game in DX11 mode, no matter what in-game menu said.

Unfortunately, the game is very unstable in DX12 mode, especially online, especially in co-op missions (those 8 missions without lobby/playlist starting from Dysfunction mission). It's almost impossible to complete all 8 missions in a row without a single crash in DX12 mode.

By the way, I have RX6600, but it's clearly not AMD's fault. I have lots of players with nVidia gfx cards, they're more popular, and the game crashes that often for them too. It's like 1-2 crashes a day in DX12 mode. And only 1-2 crashes a week in DX11.

I tried everything, nothing helped. And DX12 crashes and freezes are completely random. They might happen after 20 min since you launched the game and after 4 hours since you launched it. With lowest possible graphical settings, with highest possible settings including TAA and ray traced reflections on:

    - the game just crashes/freezes completely randomly
    - sometimes crashes/freezes when you open the map
    - sometimes crashes/freezes when you press Esc to enter main menu
    - it freezes more often after Alt+Tabing to the desktop if you Alt+Tab a lot
    - it freezes when you click on a guard/NPC to open his hack menu, see his info card
    - sometimes it crashes/freezes after swapping your agent
    - it crashes rarely during loading screens

It's like a memory leak or something that happens mostly in DX12 mode. My guess is it's somehow related to DX12 exclusive features (like async compute, for example), and the fact that only in DX12 mode the game has a bug, when agents portraits in your team menu get corrupted as soon as you get in online session. Or may be it's somehow related to Ubi Connect overlay, which renders differently in DX12 and DX11 games.

@KenTWOu, Great post, great explanation and great help to those who are experiencing game crashes. The only game that constantly crashed on me was the Division 2 and that's why I abandoned that game around 2 years ago. We win some and we lose some!
