    My game keeps changing the default language. I am in the US, and after a few minutes, the game changes from English to Spanish/Italian. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game--without any language support except for English, and the game continues to change languages. This is a new development, but even not using the newest DLC, it still does it. When I try to change the language back in the settings, it doesn't work. I have read that this has been happening to players for a while now. Does Ubisoft have a fix for this? It's enough to make me cancel my subscription.

    Thanks for reaching out, apologies for the delayed response.

    Are you in the middle of a game when these language changes occur?

    Does this occur after verifying the game's files too?

    And are there any trends in what you're doing in-game before these changes take place too?

    Hey there, I would love a followup of this, as it has started happening to me today as well.
    At first it randomly rotates to languages and after a while its only ?????????? ??????? ?????? ???? instead of words

    1. I tried verifying the game files trough steam, no changes.
    2. I have checked the engine.ini file, the settings there are both text and audio to english. when i started the game it was somehow showing a french loading screen.

    Same symptoms here;
    "First the language keeps rotating and eventually turns into squares or question marks"(depending on your supported fonts, its something unreadable anyway)

    I managed to fix this by 
    1. close the game. 
    2.Verify the game files trough steam (found no errors in my case)
    3. Delete "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Anno 1800\config/engine.ini" 
    4. Reboot the game and it should be defaulted to first boot (make sure to change settings again that you had changed before)
