I didn't know where else to put these questions, so I decided to post it here for @Ubi.Waldo to see.

So anyway, the recent post about postponing the decomission of servers for older AC games is good, but it still isn't completely clear. The post as well as the article on Ubi website state that PC players have until October 1 to activate the DLC and ULC content. However, it isn't specified what "activating the content" means. Does this mean starting a new save game and would the DLC then be locked to the save file and any other new save files created after October 1 would therefore not contain the DLC? Or does "activating the content" just mean launching the game before October 1 and all the save files created after this date would therefore still contain the DLC?

And if the latter is the case, what would happen if I download and launch, let's say, AC Brotherhood right now and then in two months, I decide to download my AC Brotherhood to a different computer. Would this new install contain the DLC? I suppose it wouldn't, but I imagine just copying the game folder should be enough to still keep access to DLC, but these are some questions that I would really appreciate further explanation for.

    Thanks in advance

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

It also isn't clear how can we activate the dlc from those games.

@TheSmio I don't know what are their plans regarding this but i think that we should be able to keep the access to DLC downloading even after October 1st. Simple as that.

Why can't they make DLC available to everyone? They aren't selling them anymore anyway.

Please, Ubisoft, at least do SOMETHING good and make the dlcs available for free until October. Assassins Creed 3 is my favourite ac game and I never got around to playing the expansions or dlc. I do NOT want to play the remaster as it is a lesser game for many reasons. Please make them available for free, there is otherwise no way to get them. Honestly. Please.

I absolutely agree with @Vincent13122 but I doubt Ubisoft will actually do that. I'm still impressed that they fixed the server issues tho.

Hello everyone thank you for your questions on the older AC server decommission.

We have updated our pinned post with how this affects each AC title, please read this thread for more information on the server retirement >

As the article specifies for PC gamers - 'you must activate your DLC keys in your game launcher before October 1st to have access to DLC content after this date'

As for access to the DLC on other computers, having DLC tied to a save file, or needing to start a new game - I have reached out to our tech team with these specific questions and will do my best to update you as soon as I know more as I understand this has not been made clear in that article, so thank you for raising these questions with us!

@Ubi-Milky Thanks for your response! The original article didn't specify that activating content means activating DLC keys, which was the confusing part. After all, activating DLC keys in the launcher is a clear instruction while "activing the content" could have meant anything from activating DLC keys to starting the game up with internet connection or starting a save file, so thanks for the clarification.

I also appreciate you're still looking into specifics of what the decomission of servers will do, I think it's important for us to have this information in advance (as Ubisoft has also realized) to make sure we can keep backups of important files to keep the access to all the DLC/ULC content even past the server decomission, so I'm glad you're looking into it.

No worries @TheSmio I have asked for more clarity with this article as I know some players have had specific questions regarding if an old save file was needed, if a new save file was needed, if the game could be downloaded on a new computer as was reassured that players only need to have the DLC activated in their launcher as shown in this guide to keep access to the content after October 1st > https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/article/checking-if-content-is-installed-on-pc/000061437

If I get any more answers to any other specific questions, I will do my best to update these forums as soon as I know.
