It keeps telling me "Failed to synchronize cloud saves".
I have played 120 hours of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The last time I played was in November 2019 and I can see my cloud file in the cloud save game. However, when I choose my cloud save it keeps failing me. My connection is well and there is no interference in any condition to my WiFi connections.
I pre-purchased the ultimate edition on steam back in 2018 and never subscribe to any ubisoft+ service, all of my games are purchased at full prices so it is a compatible save the file.
If anyone from support is seeing this, please help.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hey there @Stevenunbound, I am sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this issue. Thank you for letting me know about the steps you have already taken. We have a potential workaround here that may help resolve the "Failed to Synchronise Saves" error message. The workaround will overwrite the current cloud save. If you are happy to try, could you please go through the following for me?
1. Open Ubisoft Connect as administrator, click the menu icon at the top left and go to settings.
2. Untick "Enable cloud save synchronisation for supported games"
3. Make backup of savegames - default location C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames
4. Remove the save file from the original folder.
5. Launch game, play till the game makes an autosave or you manually save. This is approximately 5-10 minutes of gameplay
6. Quit the game, re-enable cloud saves and relaunch the game.
7. Select local save when prompted. Saves should be resynced.
I am afraid we are unable to recover save files. Therefore if you are still experiencing the error after carrying out these steps, you may have to make a brand new save and overwrite the cloud save with your new local save.
@ubi-gizmo
Thank you for your reply, it could be useful if I still have my save file on my current PC which is, unfortunately, I no longer possess any local saves since it was two years ago from now... What I want is to retrieve my old save files which are in the cloud saves and the problem that occurred to me is it failed to download so. Your solution seems to open new save at local and upload them to the cloud which will overwrite my old cloud save, which I don't wish to happen because I will lose all of my game progress.
I appreciate your help, but if you could provide a solution to let me download my cloud save successfully, please let me know it.
Sincerely
Hey again @stevenunbound, I understand. As mentioned in my last reply, I am afraid we are unable to recover save files from our end. I understand that this may not be the update that you were hoping for, and I want to apologise for any disappointment that may have been caused by this. Should you have further questions regarding this or anything else, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Could you try my solution here: https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/128314/failed-to-sync-cloud-saves/3?lang=en-US&_=1643309700722
Hey @tuuchen, thanks for taking the time to share the steps that worked for you. Please note that we cannot promote the use of scripting as a workaround, as this can conflict with game files and cause issues. Players are welcome to try the suggestions above but would be doing so at their own risk.
Hey @samot_26-0
I'm sorry to hear the steps above haven't resolved it for you. Unfortunately we're unable to recover saves from the cloud on this game, so it seems your original save could have corrupt and therefore would need to continue with your new save.
I'm necro-ing this thread so someone else might benefit; it's the top google result for "ubisoft cloud saves failed to synchronize" searches. In my case, I found that there were four files in my Breakpoint save directory. 1.save and 1.save.upload, and 2.save and 2.save.upload. The ones that ended in upload were 0kb and were empty. I deleted them, started my game and got no save sync error, but loaded into my save game just fine. I played for a bit and watched the files in that directory. The upload files were recreated, then when I quit the game later, a third set of files appeared for a moment (too quick for me to read) and then the upload files disappeared leaving only the save files. The problem is gone now.
I think what happened is that my game crashed or something at some point and the upload files were not removed, and their presence disrupted the cloud upload process since that event.
@Yttermayn Hi, and welcome to the forum !
I've taken note of your workaround, and I thank you for sharing your experience in this thread.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, or for any other Issue !
@Yttermayn thank you soooo much for this advice. I can finally use the cloud again after four months.
@Galaxus101 I'm glad to hear that the workaround helped you with this sync Issue !
Enjoy the game, and let us know if you have any questions !
@Yttermayn Sure enough, PC crashed a few days ago while playing AC Odyssey and the save files have failed to sync after closing the game every time since. Thought it was because I was getting logged out of Ubisoft Connect for some reason (because I was getting logged out: when I hit skip after it failed to sync, I would get a message saying "Logged Out" or something like that. Not sure if related). Anyways, I deleted the save.upload files and it seems to be working now. Thank you
For anyone trying this method: I always recommend backing up your save files in another location before messing with them in any way, just in case!!
Hey everyone! I'm so happy to hear that the above workaround has been helping y'all get back to playing the game. As @The_Abyss_ mentioned, if you'd like to back up your save files just to be safe, the steps to do this can be found here.
Let me know if any of you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you!
Just wanted to pipe in what worked for me.
I kept the Save game folder open while I pressed "Try again" on the screen that says the cloud save file couldn't be retrieved. If anything bigger than say 7-8kb popped up in the save game folder and the date of the file correlated to when I remember having played the game latest I saved that file to another folder.
Then I went into Ubisoft Connect settings, disabled the "save to cloud" option and then pasted the file I found back into the save game folder and removed the ".tmp" at the end.
This worked for me as my old save popped up after a few tries and I could start the game and continue where I left off.
Hope this helps someone else.
@No0ne_77 It was doing it again to me but I found if you play for 2 hours save exit then start the game up again it seems to be ok.
