What exactly do you keep or lose when you die ?

With a bit of testing I found that you lose collected vehicle parts if you die. I also tested metal resources for camps. You do not lose these if you die. Can anyone confirm what exactly you do keep or lose when you die ?
I know the game saves if you fast travel. You can't fast travel in a firefight. You lose some stuff so at least there is an incentive not to die. But does the game randomly save ? -

I would never have noticed this. At 76 hours I have thousands of resources.
Can't believe you even spotted something like this.
The times that I've been repairing vehicles, I assumed the game was sucking up fuel, metal or something, but never would I have tested it.
There are only two resources that appear to run low in this game. Gunpowder and Industrial Circuits. -

Respawn points and progress do not match in game saves.
I start at A, find some loot ans special items at B, proceed to C and die there.
I respawn at A and find I still have the stuff from B, and it is not there anymore.
I find this irritating, but that's how it works in many games.
