Every now and then I can no longer hear any and all gunshots and npc dialogue.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hello there!

I'd like to reach out to you all with an update from the investigation into missing audio / sounds in-game on Xbox. The dedicated teams have been looking into this further. They have been unable to reproduce this issue when carrying out testing following recent game updates. As this issue can no longer be reproduced in-game, we will now be marking this thread as "Resolved."

If you are still missing any audio / sounds in-game, please can you provide us with the following information:

    • What is your audio set-up (Speakers / Headset etc)?
    • The steps that you took prior to the audio stopping in-game, and the steps you took afterwards.
    • Can you let us know which audio is missing (i.e. footsteps, gunshots, dialogue etc)? Is any audio playing at all?
    • When does the audio tend to disappear? Is it after a certain amount of playtime, or is it random?
    • Are you playing in solo mode or co-op mode when the audio disappears?
    • Please can you upload your save file to the cloud. This support article can help you to do this.
    • A video that shows the missing audio in-game. If you can show you in-game audio settings in this video, that would be very helpful.

I'd recommend uploading any videos to a sharing platform, such as YouTube or Google Drive, as this will allow you to post a shareable link within this thread we can take a closer look at. We can then forward these reports to the dedicated teams for further investigation.

    Thanks! 😊

Hey! Sorry to hear that you are both experiencing this sound issue. So that we can investigate this further can you provide a video showing this happening please?

Also please let us know if you use a TV for audio, or a headset, if a headset which one? Also please provide a screenshot of your audio settings from your console settings.

We can then pass this on to the dev team to try and pinpoint the issue.

    Thank you.

I am having same issue. No gun noises, no helo noises, no NPC voices, most other ambient noses seem to work (barking dogs, sirens, mag changes).

I have restarted multiple times, tried headphones, tv speakers and issues persist. Every other game is working fine. Would really love a fix for this.

Same here on Xbox Series S, I'm about 6 hours into the game, No sound problems for the first several hours of play. When the sound problems started, at first it was just the sound of my guns, then no music, then no talk/dialog, now most all sound is gone except a few things, I can hear footsteps and when I pick up something, that's about all the sounds i can hear now.
When I die in the game, some (most?) sounds come back on for a little while, maybe a minute or so, then gone again.
Quit the game, and reboot the Xbox doesn't help.

    Xbox Series S
I just found a way to get sound back. Clearing cache memory.
I powered off my Xbox Series S, then UNPLUGGED it from the wall, left it unplugged for about 5 minutes or so.
Powered the Xbox back up, resumed the game and all the sounds are back to normal in Far Cry 6.
Doing this strongly makes me suspect there is a memory cache problem, cache memory is not getting released properly so it slowly fills up.
I bet this may work on PS5 consoles as well.

@starwalker68 I've noticed that as well specially when taking long distance shots with a sniper rifle. You see the hit and then you hear the crack.

Hey @dlm613 , welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear you've not been hearing some sound effects at times - that's most unusual, and I'm glad you've brought this up.

Can you go into the in-game audio menu and double-check that you've got all the sound effects sliders to full? Can you also test how it runs with the 'Audio Dynamic Range' set to 'Night,' to see if this might be an issue with the game's range being too great for your audio setup. Let me know if either of those steps resolves the issue.

Please also double-check that your audio setup isn't set to more sound channels than you have available. For example, if you have a dual-speaker setup, make sure your audio isn't set to surround sound. You may need to reach out to your sound device's manufacturer to ask for their assistance in how to do this.

It would also be great to try a different sound output, just for testing. So, for example, if you have a USB headset, this is an easy way to test a different sound output.

If none of those steps sheds any light on the issue, please also check our troubleshooting guide. Please in particular make sure you've verified the game files, your OS is fully up to date, and you've reinstalled supporting software such as your sound drivers.

Let me know if the issue persists after that, and I'll have some further recommendations! 😎

    Hey there.

The team are aware of and are actively investigating reports of sounds going missing randomly. If you are able to reproduce this and capture this on video could you perhaps provide us with a link we could send over to the team? Thanks.
