Hello! Recently, Battleye anticheat (what R6S uses) has announced that Proton (which is what allows Linux users to run windows-only games) will have support for their anticheat service in this tweet

I managed to speak to a support member who had stated this:undefined

I was also told that it would be a good idea to forward my suggestion to this forum in hopes that it would be seen by a community manager. Please implement this feature in your game! It would mean so much to us Linux users!

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

me and my friends try to switch to linux, but some games are still only on windows, how much money do we need to give ubisoft to make it possible to play on linux?

@d4kir When Valve makes Proton work nicely with BattlEye. Until then, enjoy your bare metal install of Windows.

Battleye can now be used with Proton.

I'd like to request that this is enabled please Ubisoft 🙂

@donald_j_trump I was fully aware of those efforts basically since the Steam Deck was announced, I just had unfortunate timing with this one. It's also opt in, so we still have to ask Ubi to enable it. @Ubi-Milky or another rep please pass this on to the team thx.

    @donald_j_trump
    thats not right

    Easy Anti cheat works now

    Battleye is following it soon

but yes ubisoft need to check the checkbox for that

but a native version would be cooler 😄

@d4kir Battleye is now compatible with Steam proton/wine, so it should be working soon IF Ubisoft is willing to flip the switch for it.

@d4kir Unfortunately there's more chance of me winning the lottery than Ubi making a native build (and I don't buy lottery tickets). At least Proton/Wine has hope lol

Recently, Steam has announced that BattleEye will work with proton on an opt-in basis from game developers. R6: Siege is definitely a game I want to play, but unfortunately can't as I use Linux.
This thread is to express concern and voice support for enabling Proton support for R6 Siege as I would love to see it be done. Please R6 Devs, enable it and let the Linux community also enjoy one of your best titles!
I've recently seen the Ubisoft team suggesting voicing this opinion to feedback and so I want others who also think the same to speak up. Wouldn't this just be great

Before someone suggests a VM or dual boot. backspace your message. and just go

@garlic_kasparov Hey! Thank you for reaching out here on the forums about Proton support for Rainbow Six: Siege.

We appreciate that you wish for this to be implemented, however as other support agents have advised we are only able to pass this feedback on to the development team.

Hopefully, other players will reply here in favor of Proton support and the development team may then look to implement it.

If you need anything further please let us know.

    Thank you for your time.

I think Ubisoft should add Proton support to Rainbow Six: Siege as to allow more people to play their game. R6, for me and many others, alongside other Windows games, run better on Linux via Proton/Steam Play. Streaming the game via Stadia or Luna is not possible for me due to the manner in which my internet functions, as well as Xfinity charging a lot already. All Ubisoft has to do is email Batteye asking them to enable Batteye support for Proton and that’s it! It’s super convenient for them and it would be super convenient for us! It would also make the game even more accessible to users who may end up purchasing the game on the upcoming Steam Deck! In all, this benefits all parties!

@ubi-viral Hopefully a few more peeps show up with responses, I'm going to buy the game, but I won't be playing multiplayer unless it gets proton support. Here's to hoping!

@Ubi-Viral Adding proton support for Battleye only requires Ubisoft to send an email to Battleye to enable it. Thats it. No extra work needs to be done from the devs.
