@ubi-viral hi! Here's my vote for Proton support. Also note that Linux users are more used to submit bug reports. If you enable Proton you would basically obtain couple of thousands QA monkeys for free
@ubi-viral I switched to Linux a couple of years ago. Would love to see Rainbow Six Siege running on Linux. Haven't played it in years (do own the game though - obviously don't own any of the newer operator season passes).
I would love to have it working on Proton/Steamdeck. I bet more people would play it on Linux if they knew it could be possible.
We do need this, dual booting just to play EAC/BattlEye games is infuriating.
Valve has collaborated with those two anti-cheat vendors and made it extremely easy for developers to enable Proton (Linux) support.
You may even contact Valve directly if need be for guidance.
Many players would be delighted to hear you enabled this, and hopefully you will by default in your other titles, past and future.
On top of that playing R6s on the Deck would be awesome.
Much love,
A Linux Enthusiast!
@Ubi-Viral
Please send the email to request BattlEye is enabled for this game running via Proton.
It's just an email to BattlEye. You have no other effort. The game works with Proton. So yes, please send that email so it's enabled.
@ubi-viral Definitely enable it. We can't test, troubleshoot and fix issues with Proton if we cannot run the game. And in the case of this game that only involves you sending an email to BattlEye. And this is the disconnect that I think a lot of developers seem to have regarding this. You do not have to "support" anything. You do not need to field support tickets or alter your game to work. Linux users have been buying and testing "unsupported" games to run under Proton/wine for years with the developers of said games sometimes not even realising we exist.
All you have to do is send that email, we'll take it from there.
Yes please support Proton! I have watched so many videos of Siege, and always wanted to play that game. I have been on Linux now 5 years 100% and not going back to Windows ever.
It's just email away. Enable Battleye and FOSS community will make it work.
@ubi-viral The Linux gaming community would be glad to "beta test" the game running through proton and the Linux community are really good at giving detailed feedback and logs.
Just enable the anti-cheat support and we'll take it from here.
@ubi-viral I would love to see Proton support. I've stopped buying Ubisoft games because I've moved to gaming on Linux and most of them don't support it in any way or form.
Please do it, and not only pass this to development, it could be something for PR as well
I haven't played a Rainbow game since the 90's
It would be really cool to be able to play Siege on my Linux desktop, I'm sure a lot of people will be interested in the game if it's supported.
