There is no rhyme or reason. It just crashes randomly and completely shuts off the Xbox. It's a digital download and I have gone through both the game settings and Xbox settings changing graphics settings and have tried deleting and re-downloading and installing and having the same issue.
Does anyone else have the same problem? If so, how do I fix it?
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@cptwcn I've actually just started experiencing this starting after the recent update. Didn't happen before the recent update.
Hi @cptwcn @atrociousisback and welcome to the forums.
I'm sorry to hear that you are both experiencing crashes whilst playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Could you please go through the Xbox troubleshooting if you haven't already done so then try again.
If the issue persists could you confirm the following:
I understand that you have both already answered some of those questions, if you could just answer the remaining questions, thanks.
@ubi-keo
I recently migrated platforms from PS4 to XBOX Series X. I purchased the game for XBOX and downloaded my progress file through my Ubisoft account about 3 weeks ago.
I can play anywhere from 5 minutes to about 45 minutes before the game crashes. For example, just now, I was playing for about 10 minutes and it shut off completely.
The game crashes and shut everything down completely. The console shuts off, the controller light blinks, The only way to turn the console back on is through hard starting on the console itself.
I own the digital version. The other two games I own are MS Flight Simulator (Digital) and Madden 22 (Digital). I don't experience any issues with the other two games.
The crash occurs in all parts of the game. During missions, during freeplay, whether the character is just standing there doing nothing, or when I am in a fight or sneaking around in a swamp. It has happened in different regions of the map. There is no pattern to the crash. It seems to be entirely random.
Right now, I am on Treasures of River Exe. However, it has happened on many of the other quests. I am currently on Level 95.
A few other things that might be or might not be relevant. I have a usb wireless mouse and a Thrustmaster Flight T Flight HOTAS 4 Joystick for XBOX (game crashes whether connected or disconnected to XBOX).
@cptwcn Thanks for the information provided.
I will report this to the development team.
In the meantime do you have another Xbox account that you could login to on your console to try starting a new game with to see if the same issue occurs. This will help to identify if the issue is related to your save file.
I have exactly the same problem as @CptWCN after the latest AC valhalla update for Xbox One X. In my case i dont use a migrated save file but have an xbox one x save file.
My games randomly crashing. Sometimes within 10 minutes and another time in about 50 minutes.
@cptwcn im experiencing exactly the same issue with digital download on xbox series x , the reason why we go digital is to avoid these issues with dirty or damaged discs so totally unacceptable. I closed my Ubisoft connect subscription for experiencing the same issues on pc constantly on there too..
upon researching many user complaints it seems Ubisoft always answer any issues with the same few scripted replies always insinuating its user hardware error or save file error, I experienced this myself using pc Ubisoft connect ,hence why I cancelled my subscription, now im getting the same response as everyone else using xbox series x. its about time the Ubisoft developers put their hands up and apologised and said the problem is their end not the hundreds or thousands of users having the identical problems and get something done about it ,with the $2,500,000,000 revenue generated ,yes thats 2.5 billion dollars earned in 2020-21 up nearly 50% on previous year ,there is plenty of money in the pot to upgrade infrastructure and/or hire more technicians. the profits can just as quickly decrease 50% if the customer is not getting the service Ubisoft was once providing..
it's always the same excuse... it's the xbox's fault, it's the save file's fault. no, it's our fault for keep buying your broken games...
@S73ph4N05 - Hello and thanks for contacting Ubisoft Support. I am sorry to hear that your game is crashing. As mentioned previously, this is an issue currently under investigation by the development team and we'll keep this mega thread updated with any news we receive with regard to their investigation.
@vinny7676 I am sorry to hear you have had a such frustrating experience with us and had to cancel your subscription. I would like to reassure you that we don't answer with scripted replies. Our aim is a personal approach to every player but for now we can not confirm that issue is on our side as it is currently under investigation. Thank you for your understanding while the team continue to look into this.
@Pavlozky Hello and welcome to Discussions. I am sorry to hear you've started to experience crashes in game but I guess your issue is different as you are not on Xbox series X. Could you please provide more details. When have you started to experience those crashes? Can you tell us your game edition and do you own a Season Pass as well?
I have the same problem. I first bought the gold version (so yes season pass) for the PC (MSI Suprim X 3080ti 32G mem 8086K no overclock w10 prof. legal edition all drivers/w10 up to date) and encountered several crashes after 20 or so hours of gameplay (see my other post for the location). Today I bought the Xbox series X version (also gold afcorse) and when I got to :
Pilgrimage to St. Albanes chapter 2 raiding the town to "find and rescue Fulke"
Each time i run up the hill with the raid group the sound cracks and stutters, then sound disappears partly and then seconds later the game crashes to the xbox desktop.
Each time I have this. Did it four times now and simply can't progress in the game atm (can't enter the town from another side either, getting close is crash).
I'm running performance mode on the Xbox Series X.
You really need to start playing the game and experience the crashes yourself so you can hotfix this...this is really bad and costed me almost 120 euro's for 1 broken game on 2 platforms...(19.99 euro helix credits included).
Tommorow I wil try quality mode on the xbox to see if I can pas that mission.
Update to my previous post:
Quality mode did help! Where on performance mode I where unable to even get up the hill near the monastery where Fulke was being held prison (could not even see the monastery cause it crashed so soon), in Quality mode I could even enter the monastery.
I just ran up and killed like 3 man before I went true the window, but then when I saw the guy with the shield and the quest sign on his head (guard) CRASH....
So retry, ran up, did not killed a single soul, jumped inside, killed guards, no crash.
Damn now I need to go out to get a fire bottle...so I went out, got the bottle went in all went fine. God damn I finished the rescue quest...
I think it even helped that I waited, after I went out for the fire bottle and went inside again, a little bit in the menu (sound got horrible).
So to sum it up:
Performance mode (tried 6 times in total now) can't run up the hill....
Quality mode can finish the quest if I do not linger or kill a man and just run like crazy to the objectives (and maybe pause in the menu a little bit after sound issues).
Now with this information you must be able to troubleshoot the problem and hotfix this please.
By the way I'm also installing the game on my Xbox One X now to see what happens if I get another consistent crash location what happens on the One X. It seems like it is a quality/fps issue.
Really want to play this game but don't want to be playing crash test dummy on the series X or PC...
Maybe my One X or S can help me clear the areas I cant clear (did not cleared the monastery raid only quickly finished the quest objectives).
Fix please and any confirmation this information reached you would be appreciated.
i have the same issue when I’m doing raids and mastery challenges on Series X. It crashed to desktop twice in 6/7 minutes during the mastery challenges just now. I can deal with random crashes now and again but not back to back crashes like this. Not enough that I have game breaking audio bug since the Ostara but now I find this too. What a mess?
@ubi-oxavo if it helps, the game crashes, only after i turn off the console and turn it on and resume the game. if i quit the game and the turn off the console, then there are no problems. But it's not ideal because the loading times are looong
You can add me to this list of complaints.
playing on Xbox series X on physical copy
it started since the update with the Oskoreia Festival.
but with mines everytime I went to Ravensthorpe the dialogue will go away and a feedback sound will come instead, and once that happens the game crashes.
when I leave Ravensthorpe the game works almost perfectly…with the feedback and crash only occurring every so often.
But now I’m in wincestre and I can’t play the story because either the dialogue is missing from the cutscenes of NPC you talk to, or the game crashes when the feedback sound appears or both.
@s1rdr1nkalot same here. So many hours involved in this game. I purchased the new DLC and can’t even get into it. Every 5 mins my game crashes ever since the new update.
@cptwcn exact same issues. No real reason for stopping just completely random. Even followed the steps recommended by ubisoft to no avail. I hope there is fix somewhere because playing the same quest 3 times just to complete is getting labouriius.
@cptwcn I have never heard of a game shutting down a console. I have experienced Valhalla crashing and quitting suddenly since TU 1.4.1 rolled out, even from the opening splash screen, but nothing has caused my XBox Series X to completely shut down. Perhaps you should check the settings of your XBox... if you have CEC enabled with your TV, you may want to check out your TV settings as well.
I have assassin's creed valhalla on xbox x when l go the load screen it sends me back to my homepage and I have not bought the new dcl
