Valhalla at release seemed to be the best "new AC" out of the 3 games released. But now I think its the worst.

First, big paid DLC. Both origins and odyssey had expansions that dealt with AC lore and both games 2nd expansions had mind-blowing locations. In valhalla those are just 2 more side sagas. And while Ireland had some unique terrain France looks and feels like yet another part of England.
Then repeatable quests in those DLC. Just why? 2 different systems but both are much worse than odyssey merc contracts. In odyssey you had more variety in tasks and destinations but most importantly - they always started with a story, and there were a lot of different stories. In Valhallas Paris DLC I've lost count how many times I was asked to wipe a convoy in the same exact spot just to gain enought resources to buy armor set and all new runes. Who asked for this? Did we really trade actual side quests for this crap? Odyssey provided both, there was no trading one thing for another.

Then comes free content. In Odyssey they added a new big quest chain every few weeks. And their quality was suprisingly very good. What does valhalla add? Mindless grind. Boring events with almost no story but with tokens grind. River raids that are all about grind. Mastery challenges where you fight against bugs and unpolished game systems.

And finally microtransactions. There is more of this crap than ever. And its more impactfull than ever.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

I also really wish the DLCs were similar to the ones we have for Odyssey and Origins (about the AC lore and about the Isus/mythology). I wish the Hidden Ones in Valhalla in general were more important, and I hoped the that DLC would give us more of them, but it doesn't seem to be the case 😞

Exacly. I know odyssey got a lot of crap for "gating" important story behind a DLC "paywall". But its better than having 2 bland side sagas with characters I simply dont care about. And looks like even writers dont care, why else would they leave Charles without any sort of explanation. With odyssey post-release updates you always had something to look forward to. For valhalla so far its one disappointment after another. Not to mention exorbitant ammount of bugs in each update.
I was hoping to get at least something that connects Order of the Ancients with Templars in Paris DLC but nothing. Only a tiny half-baked easter egg about Unity's DLC.

@anykeyer agree with you in all aspects.
valhalla is a total downgrade after origins and awesome odyssey

SoP is so bad and poor as well as Francia RR2 map, same pointless copy-paste.

im really done with 10 mins ultimate edition beowulf mission, berserk connect points mission and both shortest dlcs ever. and if druids provided smth new like nice weapons and lots of armors with beautiful landscapes, so SoP provides just some fantasy cut stuff for couple hours and worst siege ever.

guess next dlc they could play on their own in their post launch office buying next fantasy helix gear
