From the new patch onward I've been having a problem wherein I start the game:
- Acces the main menu
- Press "Continue"
- And then in the Animus loading screen the game freezez up, and doesn't load
It does not go to a "Not responding" status in the task manager either, it just stays frozen up like that.
I've left it going for an hour now and it still doesn't do anything.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hello there @ubi-borealis !
Even before making this post on the forums, I've tried the troubleshooting steps and they didn't work.
I've now tried even disabling the background applications as you mentioned, and still no change whatsoever.
So unfortunately the problem still persists.

Hello @ubi-borealis
I am having the same problem as @shitpickl3
I've tested several solutions, including updating and downgrading the graphic drivers. The Task Manager does not show any issue, I only notice that the cpu percentage reaches almost 0% during the loading time.
I even tried benchmarking and creating a new game, but the problem persists.
Hi @tedblackbear and welcome to the forums.
I'm sorry to hear that you are also experiencing a freezing issue whilst playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Can you please go through the PC troubleshooting steps in the support article here if you haven't already done so then try again.
However if the issue persists, could you please submit a support ticket and attach your system files, dxdiag and msinfo and our Customer Support team will investigate this further for you.
@ubi-keo I found the problem. @shitpickl3 if you have these two background processes "VoiceControlEngine" and "VoiceControl_Service" running, terminate them.
It was these processes that were messing with the game. I'm not sure why. I contacted the ubisoft helpdesk for them to identify why these processes are interfering with the game.
@tedblackbear Thanks for the update, I'm pleased to hear that the issue was resolved by closing those processes that you mentioned.
I am unsure why those processes would cause the game to freeze.
@tedblackbear wow I huge help mate. I'm experiencing the same issue 2days now and I'm so worried not playing Valhalla anymore because of this issue.
Thankfully I visit the official forum to get more information.
Btw I'm playing in PC also but what does these two VoiceControlEngine" and "VoiceControl_Service works?
Hello @haikara12 and welcome to Discussions!
Happy to hear that the workaround provided by @TedBlackBear helped to solve your issue.
VoiceControlEngine is MSI utility. It is not essential for the Windows OS and causes relatively few problems. VoiceControlEngine.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files (x86)"—normally C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI\One Dragon Center\VoiceControl\ by default, but could be different for you if you installed Windows on a different partition.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
