    Hi there,

I'm facing an issue with Anno 1800 where all numbers > 1000 are shown as "1?000" when the game is set in French. If I set the game in English it shows "1,000" or German "1.000", but the French option shows with a question mark instead of a non-breaking space "1 000". I've tried verifying the game but there's no issue detected. It's probably a font issue or a config file that is messed up but I don't know where to look to fix it.
Do you know how to fix this issue ?

    Kind regards,

    Nic

Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hey @nicoouf,

Sorry to hear that you encounter this when using the French language.

Would it be possible to share with us a screenshot as an example?

    Many thanks

@ubi-wheelyduck It's not my post but i'm facing the same issue.
Sometimes the ressources bug as the population does, it's only fixed when i switched language into english...
I've repaired and reinstalled the game, nothing works.
The issue came up with my fresh install of windows 11.

    @ubi-thrupney Great news !
    Yes i enjoy since Anno 1602 👴
But i'm still hoping that you'll add multiple building layout blueprint (copy many building and store to a library of layout) and a measure tool (square counter) it would be a perfect game !

    Anyway thanks !

    @nicoouf

Seems happen when you switch english to french.

    Hey @Im_Saul_Goodman

As this is also in relation to the French version of Windows, it's been a little trickier for the team to fix, apologies for the delay.

Should we have more information available, we will share it here.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused!

    Hello @Ubi-TheBerry

I am a bit doubtful on the fact that it is because of the french version of windows that create the bug.
I have Windows 11 English (Canada) installed on my computer, and Anno 1800 installed in French.

I am having the exact same bug. I tried the workaround described by Gilestiel above in the discussion thread, but it does not do anything on my end.

Hope this can be investigated a bit further

Heya, @bdoux33 , thanks for sharing your report of this! My apologies for the misunderstanding. We've not specifically been informed that it is to do with French versions of Windows, or with Windows set to French - rather, the information we have is simply that the issue is with interactions with Windows itself. My own inference is that it's to do with regional administration settings, after a player had shared a workaround with us.

'In Windows go to Settings / Time and language / Language and region / Administration language settings

In the 'Formats' tab then the 'Additional parameters' button, enter (or reset) the space in 'Symbol for grouping figures'

If that doesn't work, do the manipulation with a random symbol, start the game (you will see your symbol instead of '?' If you have chosen something else) then quit and enter the space again and restart the game.'

Can you give that workaround a go for me as well, and let me know if you see any change in-game? If not, I'll be able to feed that back to our team to help with our investigation. Let me know if I can clarify those steps at all!

    Hi @Ubi-Thrupney
I had the same issue as above, switching to french made the numbers with an unknown character "20?000". I am on a Windows 11 installed in French as well and the workaround did work for me, i.e replacing the space by another space in the regional parameters. It seems that recent Windows versions have somehow set another char encoding for space.

Heya @Eyolfur , welcome to our forums, and thanks for sharing your report of this issue! I appreciate it 🙂 I've not had a look at exactly what's causing the issue myself, but what you've said sounds accurate to me. Fortunately, we're working with Microsoft for an eventual fix, but we don't have any ETA on that. My apologies for the issue in the meantime.
