    Odin Sight and Set Trap are both activated by pressing and holding R3 on PS4/PS5. If I am in a brush next to a corpse and I want to use Odin Sight, it starts to set a trap instead. It is minor, but it can be an issue if the brush is small and I have to try to scoot away from a body while staying hidden. It's more of a design issue than a glitch.

    While I'm on the topic, I have a couple of requests:

    • Make the effect last longer for enemies during fights. I feel like I have to spam Odin Sight while fighting in raids.
    • Make the highlight more noticeable and longer lasting for loot. We don't want it to be too visually intrusive, but it is a little too subtle in this game compared to previous ones.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hello @virtualawesome thank you for posting about the issue you encountered whilst using Odin Sight next to a corpse. I have yet to experience this myself as I have yet to unlock the 'Set Trap' ability.

    As this is more of a gameplay design fault, than a bug, I will move your post to our General Discussion area, so our community team can pass this on as feedback to the AC team.

    If possible, would you be able to provide a video clip of this in action for context?

    If anyone else would like to contribute their thoughts to this particular situation, please do so in the thread.

    @ubi-milky I can confirm what @VirtualAwesome wrote. It's very frustrating not to be able to use Odin Sight next to a corpse, because... you're setting a trap on it.
    Also I don't think it should be moved to General Discussion. Other issues related to controls scheme stayed in Player Support. Now we have problem with long-pressing R3 button.
    @TheNorfolkian can you reproduce this on your Xbox?

    @ubi-milky

    Here you can see me standing between two dead bodies.
    "Set Trap" has higher priority than "Odin Sight", so in fact I need to long-press R3 three times for Odin Sight to activate.

    Hi @ubi-milky. I can try to record it. It won't show what button I'm pressing, but I will try to show the contrast between standing next to a corpse and moving away. Not that it matters, but I didn't intentionally unlock 'Set Trap'. I have all of the main skills that I want, so I have been using the auto-skills option, and at some point, it unlocked it. I don't mind your moving it to General Discussion as long as the devs see it.

    (approximative english)
    Same problem for me, I had to disable the "Set Trap" (aka "explosive corpse") skill as it was really a problem :

    1. when in fight, you want to activate Odin's sight, Eivor turns back to the battle and kneel to set a trap you don't want = this is problematic + you have to wait to run because it takes some time to interrupt the animation and to re-enter a "normal usable" state.
    2. when using a stealth approach, if you kill a guy that you hide in your little bush, then, you can't use Odin's sight without getting uncovered as you have to move away from the corpse...

    @bielik01 I see that you enjoy using the sleep arrow to end conflicts quickly. I also find it very handy when hunting down targets for Reda since assassination skips the whole confirmation silliness.

    As for the the topic at hand... I never had this problem because I had long ago changed the button map so that any ‘Secondary Interactions’ like stealing or laying a trap did not interfere with other functions. That said, I’ll share my example for kicks...

    @thenorfolkian that's a great workaround to assign X button to set traps.

    @Ubi-Milky ok, so this is fine

    but this isn't?

    And I can't assign virtually anything to Secondary interaction because of (hardly visible) conflicts:

    @bielik01
    hello there 🙂

    I'm using the "set" shown in your 3rd picture = Secondary Action is set to "X"
    so, actually I've got the same red warning (the red warnig made me stopping trying it some months ago),
    I've been playing with this new "set" 2 or 3 hours with no problem

    Note 1 : I am still aware that some bugs can occurs when people have personnal "sets"
    Note 2 : my 3rd abilty is also on "X" : "Boulder Bash" (or something like that) and I didn't have any problem with it, at the moment....

    Have a nice day 🙂

    @azullfr so just to confirm... you also assigned X to the secondary interaction and there's no problems playing even though there is a warning about some conflicts?

    @bielik01
    yes, exactly this 🙂
    I'm still aware that I may encounter bugs, but at the moment it's ok 🙂

    @bielik01 To clarify, on my XBox Series X controller, I have the X button assigned for Light Attacks as well, but the Secondary Interactions always overrides that if the prompt appears for laying traps or stealing. I would test out the button combination you have to see if there are any issues, because I did find that some actions will be more assertive than others.

    The button assignment discussion is taking this off-topic. Please start a different thread for that.

    Add me to the list too, please (PS4)

    I disabled Set Trap because it interferes with Odin's Sight. It was driving me nuts.

    @missm16 You should try changing the button map like @bielik01 and @azullFR to see if that solution works for you. Clearly this isn’t a bug, just a design flaw. Setting traps can be a fun surprise if you lump enough dead bodies together.

    Correction: I meant the discussion about the issues with button reassignment is taking the thread off-topic. The button reassignment as a work-around as well as disabling the trap skill were already mentioned and are relevant to the issue.

    @virtualawesome no, this is not off-topic.
    Button reassignment is crucial in this case.
    This shows how badly the original controls were designed so we need to reassign them or disable skills (as a workaround - thankfully such one exists). This thread is to focus developers attention on the original issue - prioritise actions when using these controls, or change the control assignment mechanism, so we could use Odin Sight without setting traps on corpses.

    @bielik01 *sigh* Let's not start this again. We know where it goes. If there are general issues with reassigning buttons, then that is a different topic that needs its own thread. I suspect it is part of a much bigger discussion, and the devs will notice it more if it isn't buried inside another topic. We need to follow the forum rules consistently.

    @bielik01 I agree, discussing the solution to the issue is not off-topic. I checked the default controls on my XBox and can confirm that pressing down on my right stick (RS) is associated with Odin’s Sight, Secondary Interactions, Lock Target, Special Attack, and Focus Camera. That certainly is a lot of function packed into one button (stick). Can you confirm that this is the same default scheme on the PS4/5 for all these functions? If so, we have a case to make some valid suggestions to the developers. In the meantime, at least changing the button map with custom controls does ‘solve’ the issue as a practical workaround.
