I have bought the ultimate edition of Valhalla. Wil the new expansions for next year be part of the season pass? Or do I need to buy this seperatly?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@piliphannah There is no DLC info on the link you provided.
Here is the season pass description:

Season pass includes the DLCs which were announced on launch - Ireland and Paris.
Next year's DLCs are not included.

@kormac67 I’m still going to assume that Ubisoft will ‘hand out’ any future DLCs to those who have purchased the Gold, Ultimate, or Collector’s Edition versions of the game and retroactively include it in the Season Pass like they have for other AC games. I acknowledge that Ubisoft has treated other game franchises in its catalogue differently when it came to DLCs and expansions, but maybe they’ll stay consistent for Valhalla.

When you assume you make an [censored] out of u and me. 😉
And you can be sure they want to bring some extra money in with the extra content. Which is totally ok. When you buy cinema tickets they don't include the next part of the series either.

@kormac67 If Ubisoft decides to change how they’ve delivered expansion content for AC games, I’ll be intrigued to see what kind of expansion content will justify having players spend more than what’s already been spent on the Ultimate or Collector’s Editions of the game. The recent content recap video doesn’t appear to suggest that content in the second year would require a new Season Pass, but who knows... maybe there will be some surprise announcement for the third expansion to Muspelheim.

@thenorfolkian I'm going to have to agree with @Kormac67 here. I'm pretty sure if Ubisoft is going to continue to support the game for another year of content then they are going to expect payment for said additional content. From my memory, I can remember no other time where Ubisoft released additional content beyond what was planned for any of the AC games. The only possible exception would be when they gave AC3: Remastered away, but they made that announcement before the launch of, I believe, Odyssey. The only other time I recall them giving away all the content for a game was when the launch of Unity was so bad that they chose to cancel the season pass and give everyone that bought the game all of the content; and, they gave those that had bought the season pass a choice of a free game from a list of games in the catalogue.

@jcar4327 It is true that Ubisoft has never released content for an AC game in the second year after a release, which is why I said I will be intrigued to learn what they would release for an additional price tag. And you are correct about AC3: Remastered. I myself acquired it ‘for free’ with Odyssey. That was a killer bargain, though it being a freebie made sense when I realized that Ubisoft didn’t fix the controls for the game. Perhaps with all of the still-existing bugs in Valhalla, maybe they will make the second year content free, eh?

    @thenorfolkian Keep deluding yourself.
I expect the same price for next year's DLC as for the currents, 25€. If there will be two there will probably be a season 2 pass for 40€.
There will bargains of course, but not before or close after launch.

Ghost recon Wildlands got 2 seasons .
Everyone who got Gold or Ultimate version got first Season pass included, the second Season pass, you had to pay.
Am expecting the same for Valhalla if they ever release second Season pass.

@kormac67 I would say the price tag will be very dependent on how much support they are planning to give. If they create a large expansion then the price tag would probably be similar to what they did with Division 2 and The Warlords of New York expansion, which was $30. However, if they are only planning limited support they may go with something similar that they are using for Division 2 Seasons, which would be buying a $10 season pass for each season they provide additional content. The only thing purchasing the season pass gets you is earlier access to some of the content and additional opportunities to get the cosmetics that they add each season. Everyone gets access to all the seasonal content but it's your choice on how quickly you gain that access by paying for it. So, I can see them possibly giving some content to everyone without a season pass; but, if there is an expansion, as has been discussed, then I am pretty sure there will be a price tag attached.

@thenorfolkian Yeah, we are entering new territory here in regards to the AC franchise. As I stated I have never really seen them offer additional content past what was planned, but they have changed that with at least one other franchise that I am aware of. With The Division 2 they went to a format called 'Seasons', which last roughly 3 months. With each season everyone gets the additional content, and I would equate the level of that additional content to being similar to the festivals we have had and the addition of the River Raids that everyone got access to. The expansion for The Division 2, called The Warlords of New York, was not free though and in order to access that content you had to pay $30 for it. As they are stating they will be adding an expansion then I would expect them to charge us for it, but additional festivals and river raids I would expect to be free for everyone. Of course, this is all conjecture at this point because this will be something completely new for the franchise.

@jcar4327 Yeah, I hear ya... I’m aware of how Ubisoft has treated the all of the Tom Clancy stuff differently. The Division had a Season Pass, but as you note, The Division 2 had no pass, but rather a full-blown separate expansion, even with its own Ultimate Edition. However, it’s worth noting that Rainbow Six Siege received two years worth of operators in the Deluxe Edition, but players who purchased the Operator or Ultimate Edition have received everything up to Year 6 so far. Alternatively, Ghost Recon Wildlands Gold and Ultimate Editions both include the Year 2 expansion (sorry, @KmarkoPL, here’s the link proving it). Also, Ghost Recon Breakpoint Gold and Ultimate Editions also featured the Year 1 Pass, but so far Ubisoft has been releasing free Breakpoint content in the 2021 updates with no mention of a major expansion to necessitate a Year 2 Pass. Lastly, the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction Deluxe Edition has no mention of support for future expansion content, but there is also nothing about an Ultimate Edition yet, so maybe a ‘Season Pass’ will be included for it, if it is released.

My point is, Ubisoft has a history of treating franchise updates and expansions differently. I will have no problem with them requiring money for a ‘Year 2 Pass’ on AC Valhalla, but it could go either way. Maybe they’re waiting until the end of the year before they announce their plans... we’ll have to wait and see whether or not Year 2 will have a price tag.

@kormac67 , Depends on what you mean in "Season Pass"
I think Ubisoft mean "All DLCs", not "First year DLCs only"

@piliphannah but content of season pass are only two expansions - Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris. It is without third or fourth expansion. Also DLC means only - downloadable content (DLC) what is every update, becuase you have to download update to install it at first...
