I have tried so many times to like this game. However it has to be the worst effort you have ever done! I have played all of them and this by far is the absolute worst and it’s sad you can’t get your money back on a flawed product. Please bring back what we loved so much before. Eliot where are you?

I can understand what he means, even if I wouldnt express exactly the same way.
When I immerse myself in Valhalla, after a while it feels "correct". That what I experienced recently when finishing the DLC.

But each time I restart Odyssey after it, I have always the same feeling: Valhalla is such a disgrace, a soulless game, a stripped version of Odyssey with astonishing graphics and clunky mechanics.
I must be naive, and I'm waiting for the game to become really good. Time will tell, but I dont hold my breath anymore.

@torfinr I know exactly how you feel. After the big Isu storyline in Odyssey spoiler, I really expected a much more epic finale for the current trilogy. Seeing the Norse gods as Isu is one thing, but I expected some kind of larger ‘tree’ to tie all the ‘threads’ together and explain what the connection is between the different Isu groups. Like, we know that humanity came out of the African continent and spread out, evolving in relation to the environment. So, what about the Isu? Valhalla could have explained why there are different Isu groups that represent different human mythologies what what it was that bridged them all together into one global community in an attempt to prevent or avoid the cataclysm that wiped them out and left bits and pieces of their civilization behind.

@theilluminor Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a bore, I do agree that it is a let down in many ways.

The only assassin in it is really just a bit part player and the isu connections are tenuous and confusing. There was a bug in the Asgard mission where Fenrir got stuck underground and never came up. As a result of that I had already completed the main story line before I got to finish the Asgard mission, which put some of the story out of order. I also didn't realise that the animus glitches needed to be completed to get a bit more story context. Quite frankly, they were so boring that even now I haven't gone back to finish them, I just watched the cut scene on youtube.

To me, Odyssey was superb as was origins. They both had characters I cared about, they both had immersive stories that where internally consistent, and I wanted to keep playing. I've played both twice including all the DLCs and will almost certainly play them again. With valhalla, I just couldn't care about any of the characters and was left feeling flat when I finished it. My exact thought on finishing was "that can't be it surely?". I won't be playing through again.

And speaking of odyssey, Kassandra obtains the staff of hermes, looks after it for over 2000 years, passes it on to Layla who manages to lose it in about 12 months. That just seemed to make the whole of odyssey a "why did I bother" moment.

The river raids ? Not interesting at all. They add nothing to the story and are repetitive and I have no desire to find some pretty armour for which I have no use. I played the wrath of the druids and it was OK but again, not compelling. Played the winter and easter festivals once each and then ignored them.

So in my opinion, Valhalla was a missed opportunity to expand AC lore. I suspect I'm in a minority. I know a lot of people love this game but I just can't find a connection that would keep me going back time and again.

I hope that, whatever happens with AC infinity, they get back to writing strong, involving and immersive single player stories that draw on and add to the history of the AC world. I worry that infinity will end up being just another open world, multiplayer RPG with no real narrative.

The river raids should have been in England, on the map of the game and not in some random instanced maps unrelated to the game.
They should simply have been repopulated monasteries with army reinforcements and they simply should have allowed us to replay them and incorporate them into a faction/story related thing.
But no...

@frenchmustard61 You are not in the minority. The long-term appeal of these games is very much the ever evolving mythos and lore of this unique fictional universe. If the majority of players who buy AC games were only in it for the killing, then it’s surprising Ubisoft would have let the story get to where it is before turning it into a Fortnite/Apex cash-cow.
