WATCH DOGS: LEGION x HITRECORD PARTNERSHIP FAQS:

By partnering with HITRECORD, WATCH DOGS: Legion fans can collaborate with the Ubisoft team and other artists around the world to create 10 original songs that will be integrated directly into the game, enriching the world of WATCH DOGS: Legion with community-created audio. Players will experience these tracks as they explore the world of the game (for example, the community’s songs may stream in a car while you’re driving around London.)

Yes! If your contribution is included in the final WATCH DOGS: Legion game, your HITRECORD “credited name” (which you can update HERE: https://hitrecord.org/settings) will appear alongside the other contributing artists of the final piece.

The 10 songs will be finalized and posted on the HITRECORD site later this year. We anticipate the first round of Payment Proposals for the WATCH DOGS: Legion partnership will go up in January of 2020. Be sure to bookmark the community collaboration at hitrecord.org/watchdogslegion for the most current updates.

If a contribution you have uploaded to HITRECORD is included in a final asset that HITRECORD delivers to the WATCH DOGS: Legion Dev Team, then you will get paid for your contribution!

Please see the Community Payments Video and Payments FAQ HERE. If you have any additional questions, please e-mail support@hitrecord.org and our support team will get back to you as soon as possible.

The HITRECORD and WATCH DOGS: Legion Dev Team will be providing creative direction along the way and working with the community on each project and piece of content, but ultimately the decision on which community created assets to include in the game will be made by the WATCH DOGS: Legion Dev Team in Ubisoft Toronto.

HITRECORD is a collaborative creative space and we use the site, the projects, and the challenges to both develop ideas and produce finished assets.

And, as with every creative endeavor, some ideas won’t develop or work out as we expected, and some pieces won’t be the right fit for the game.

The community can get started creating and collaborating right now! These 10 songs will be created throughout July, August and September, and will be finalized in the fall of 2019. The length of contribution times for each creative challenge will vary, but each project will include updates along the way with details and deadlines. We’ll keep everyone in the loop along the way!

The focus of this collaboration is to create new and original music for WATCH DOGS: Legion. Of course, you can create original music inspired by the game world, but you cannot remix and use assets directly from WATCH DOGS (for example, you cannot take the music from the trailer and remix it). As always, you can browse through HITRECORD and download any piece of audio contributed to the site, then put your own spin on it by remixing it and reuploading the result.

WATCH DOGS: LEGION x HITRECORD PAYMENT FAQS:

Any questions regarding payment? Check out the WATCH DOGS: Legion Community Payments Video below, with HITRECORD’s Community Director, Matt Conley.

For this partnership with Ubisoft and WATCH DOGS: Legion, community creators will collaborate on HITRECORD to produce some of the music that will be integrated into the WATCH DOGS: Legion game, amongst the variety of songs Ubisoft’s team is creating for the game.

In total, the community will make 10 songs this round of the community collaboration project. To pay contributors for the final pieces that we will deliver to WATCH DOGS: Legion team, a line item of $2,000 was set aside per song. For more info on how community payments work for the WATCH DOGS: Legion collaboration, watch the Payments Proposals Video HERE!

We anticipate the round of WATCH DOGS: Legion Community Payments for this initial scope of music will be posted on HITRECORD in January of 2019.

For more information on how community payments works, check the Community Payments HERE.

When HITRECORD delivers the finished music to the WATCH DOGS: Legion team, HITRECORD will review all the final pieces by hand and account for every single contribution and artist involved.

HITRECORD will make an initial assessment of how much each artist should get for the part they played in making that song. This assessment will be posted publicly on the site, in what we call a ‘Payment Proposal’.

If you’re included in the Payment Proposal, you’ll be emailed and notified on the site. However, the Payment Proposal is not the end of the process. After our proposals are posted publicly, there will be a two week window for the community to provide feedback on every Payment Proposal. Maybe someone thinks they were left out, or someone thinks they’re making too much, or too little — anyone can post a comment that everyone else can see, and respond to.

The HITRECORD Community Team, led by @MattConley and @JenGerdano, reviews and addresses every single concern raised. It’s an open dialogue, and it’s important to HITRECORD and Ubisoft that everyone has a chance to be a part of it. Based on this discussion, we may make changes or adjustments, and of course we’ll let you guys know what we’re doing.

After the two weeks are up, HITRECORD will make all final decisions and the Final Payments will be posted.

Money is then paid out digitally through our payment facilitator, Hyperwallet. Everyone who is included in the Final Payments will be e-mailed and notified on the site, with instructions on how to collect their money through Hyperwallet.

This is the process we’ve used to decide community payment on every HITRECORD production for the past 9 years. The most important thing to remember is that the process is open, transparent, public, and everyone will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback along the way.

We anticipate the first round of Payment Proposals for the WATCH DOGS: Legion partnership will go up in January of 2020.

HITRECORD has been paying artists for over 9 years and, to date, has paid out over $3 million to Contributing Artists from all over the world. Payments have been made for a wide range of productions — from books to television shows to commercials, and more. The WATCH DOGS: Legion partnership will be no exception: if a contribution of yours is used in any of the finished assets HITRECORD delivers to the WATCH DOGS: Legion team, you will be fairly compensated! The entire payment process is public, transparent, and everyone in the community is involved in providing feedback along the way.

Each song that’s created in the WATCH DOGS: Legion partnership will be receiving a total of $2,000.

The individual contributions that make up that final song will receive a percentage of the $2,000 based off the impact that individual contribution has on the final piece.

The Payment Proposal period is an open dialogue, and it’s important to HITRECORD and Ubisoft that everyone has a chance to be a part of it. The process is open, transparent, public, and everyone will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback along the way.
