Competitive Update
Warriors, we are happy to announce that For Honor’s competitive experience is leveling up with the launch of Ranked Dominion and the rework of Ranked Duel.
The chance to prove yourself on a global level is here!
To reinforce a fair competitive environment, the team is introducing additional player safety measures. We are removing For Honor from the Linux platform to ensure a safer environment for our players as we cannot meaningfully deploy protection on this platform. This means that For Honor will no longer be playable on Steam Deck starting September 10th. We will continue to investigate different ways to improve our anti-cheat with the possibility of reopening the platform in the future.

When does Ranked launch?
Season 0 of Ranked Dominion and Ranked Duel will be available starting September 10th, 2026.
Why is the first season, Season 0?
Season 0 marks the launch of Ranked. It will give us a chance to establish the competitive experience and gather player feedback and adjust as needed. Ranked will evolve over time, Season 0 is the beginning of that journey.
What are the Ranks?
There are 7 Ranks as listed below:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
How are ranks structured?
Each rank is divided into 5 divisions.
Example:
- Bronze 5
- Bronze 4
- Bronze 3
- Bronze 2
- Bronze 1
- Silver 5
- Silver 4
- And so on
How does Master and Grandmaster rank work?
There are no divisions in Master and Grandmaster. These ranks have point-based leaderboards. Grandmasters are the top 100 players within the masters rank.
Are there placement matches?
No, we opted for a ladder climb, meaning everyone starts at Bronze 5 for Season 0.
How do I unlock Ranked rewards?
You must complete 5 Ranked matches before becoming eligible for Ranked rewards.
What are the rewards I can earn when playing ranked?
There are unique ornaments for each Rank in both Dominion and Duels. In addition to this, players can earn an exclusive armor set and weapon for a different hero every competitive season, starting with the Warden in Season 0. Below is a list of the rewards
- Gold: Ornament & Armor Set (The armor set will differ depending the season)

The previous lootable rewards will be retired and will be replaced with the new rewards. We may bring them back in the future so keep your eyes peeled.
What maps are available in Ranked Dominion?
Ranked Dominion uses a fixed map pool. The selected maps were chosen to provide the fairest competitive experience possible and were informed by player feedback. The following maps are in the competition rotation:
- Beachhead
- Canyon
- Cathedral
- Citadel Gate
- Harbor
- High Fort
- Overwatch
- Sanctuary Bridge
- Temple Garden
- Qiang Pass
Are there any gameplay differences in Ranked?
Yes. Several settings have been adjusted to create a more competitive experience:
- Parry flash indicators are disabled
- Gear Perks are disabled
- Matches use a single-pick system (only one of each hero per team)
Why is the parry flash indicator disabled?
Removing the parry flash shifts combat from a reaction-based system to a more prediction-based system. Without the flash indicator, players must rely more heavily on reading their opponent's actions and understanding animations.
Will Ranked Dominion use the single-pick system?
Yes, in Ranked Dominion each team can only have one of each hero. Duplicate heroes on the same team are not allowed.
Is crossplay enabled?
Yes. Crossplay is enabled for Ranked play.
Is cross-region matchmaking gaming?
Yes, if you invite your friend who plays in a different region, you can queue together. However, if you solo queue, you will not enter cross-region matchmaking. This is something we are looking to implement in the future.
What are the requirements to play Ranked?
Players must reach account Reputation 5 before they can queue for Ranked matchmaking.
Why is there a Reputation requirement?
The Reputation 5 requirement is intended to ensure a better competitive environment.
Can I queue with friends?
Yes, but there are restrictions:
- The maximum party size in Ranked Dominion is 2 players
- Party members can be no more than 10 divisions apart
How long is a Ranked season?
Ranked seasons last 3 months, matching the length of regular seasons. The competitive Seasons end 24 hours before the regular season ends.
How do I climb the Ranked ladder?
Players earn Rank Points (RP) after matches. Accumulating RP allows you to progress through divisions and ranks.
Are there win streak bonuses?
Yes. After 3 consecutive wins, players can earn a win streak bonus that grants additional RP. Teammates may also receive bonus RP when the streaking player wins with them.
Is there demotion protection?
Yes, there is demotion protection. The protection only applies if you reach 0 RP on the bottom division of a rank. It does not apply on other divisions.
Is there rank decay if I do not play?
Rank decay only applies to players in Grandmaster. If no matches were played within the last week, point decay will begin.
What happens if I disconnect from a Ranked match?
If you disconnect from a Ranked Dominion match, your only option is to rejoin that match. You will not be able to queue for other game modes while the Ranked match is still active.
Ranked Duels matches will end if a player leaves (the leaver will earn a loss).
What happens if I leave and don't come back?
Players who leave a Ranked match and fail to rejoin will receive a matchmaking penalty and lose rank points.
