In the latest Season of Skull and Bones, the Indian Ocean becomes a battleground as the war between the Dutch Merchant Company and Compagnie Royale intensifies, turning trade routes into perilous zones of conflict. Amidst this chaos, there are rumors of the Plague King's resurgence. Once thought lost to the sea, returns with a formidable fleet armed with forbidden weaponry, spreading the Drowning Plague that silences ports and swallow ships in fog.
Pirates and local factions alike are caught in a storm of loyalty versus profit, with the new Sloop-of-War emerging as a coveted asset among Philippe La Peste's fleet, designed for swift attacks. Meanwhile, the region's blacksmiths have reverse-engineered these advanced weapon schematics to craft powerful armor, hinting at the involvement of a shadowy arms dealer.
As tensions rise, opportunities for power and riches beckon those daring enough to seize them, albeit at a high price.
New Features and Content
Sloop of War
Medium in size and monstrous in appetite, this Poison DPS vessel is built for the slow burn---turning Toxic weapons into instruments of attrition and victory into a lingering sting. - Increase Toxic Weapons damage by 20% and Poisoned charge up rate by 150%.
- Spite
- When attacking a target under the Poisoned status effect, the target will deal 50 Toxic Damage per second to nearby hostiles within 300m for 10 seconds. It decreases weapon damage received from the targets under Poisoned status effect by 30%.

New Feature: Domains
Set sail for the Domains---uncharted waters where Sea Lord factions reign and legends stir beneath the wake. Seek out signal buoys, stock the right lures, and bait the titans into the open---from La Peste and the Hubac Twins to Zamaharibu and the Rode Maangodin---then carve your name across all World Tiers. Prove your infamy, complete your rite of passage, and the map will grant swift passage to the next hunt. Call them out, cut them down, and let the sea remember you.
Domains are regions where players engage with Sea Lord factions and summon their Elites to battle. Buoys scattered across these territories can be activated to call forth the Elites---each requiring specific items to awaken them at their respective locations.
Buoys
- Sea Lord Buoys (La Peste, Hubac Twins, Li Tian Ning & Vikram Rajan) are summoned by Flares which can be collected from sinking their minions in the Domains or purchased from Blackwood.
- Sea monsters (Zamaharibu, Mega Lestari, Shadowbeast) can be summoned from their Domain Buoys with Monstrous Bait that can be purchased from the vendor in Lanitra.
- The Rode Maangodin can be summoned from its Domain Buoy with Essence of Spirits that can be purchased from the vendor in Forgotten Candi.
- Domains are available across all World Tiers.
- Prerequisites for fast travelling via map marker:
- Infamy level 10.
- Must have defeated all the Sea Lords such as La Peste, Hubac Twins, Li Tian Ning, Vikram Rajan, Sea Monsters and Rode Maangodin.
- Completed the onboarding contract for Domains.
New Feature: Armor Ascension
Armor Ascension has arrived---take your plating from sturdy to legendary. Forge new strength at the Blacksmith or hunt down pre-ascended pieces in the wild, then stack up to four upgrades across three grades to tailor your defenses for the voyage ahead. Slot potent mods that harden your hull, sharpen your bracing, steady your stamina, and shrug off the elements. Each ascension level amplifies your armor rating, keeping you in the fight through the fiercest squalls. Build a bulwark, bend the storm, and let your armor be the edge that outlasts everything.
- Ascend armor at the Blacksmith or acquire pre-ascended armor via loot in the world.
- Like Weapon Ascension, Armor Ascension allows players to build up to 4 upgrades across 3 grades of modifications that improve survivability.
- Modification slots get added to the armor when it gets ascended.
- Each Ascension level adds +5% armor rating to a given armor.
- 1 ascension level -> +5% armor rating.
- 2 ascension levels -> +10% armor rating.
- 3 ascension levels -> +15% armor rating.
- 4 ascension levels -> +20% armor rating (Common armor only).
Armor Ascension Modifications
The following modifications are available in the Armor Ascension rolls by Grade:
New Feature: Automatic Repair
- Your ship will now be repaired automatically when docked.
- This function can be toggled on/off from the "Set Sail" screen. This function is Off by default.
- Silver cost for repairing ships remain unchanged.
New Damage Type: Toxic
Toxic rises as a new secondary damage type - seeping into crews, sapping stamina, and swelling toward the Poisoned status: a creeping malady that makes bracing feel brittle and every heartbeat count. Signature kits like La Piqûre, Le Fléau, and Wrathful Ward now carry the sting, while new weapon mods lace your shots with a noxious bite---or temper the venom to taste.
Choose your cure or double down on the disease---either way, your broadside is about to bite.
- Toxic secondary damage type is now formally a damage type consistent with other secondary damage types (e.g. Burning, Flooding, etc.).
- 1% of any Toxic damage dealt drains Crew Stamina from target.
- Toxic Damage will build up and trigger the Poisoned Status Effect.
- The following weapons and armor have been retroactively adjusted to utilize the new Toxic damage type:
- La Piqûre
- Le Fléau
- Wrathful Ward
New Status Effect: Poisoned
- Upon applying sufficient Toxic secondary damage on a target, the Poisoned status effect will be triggered.
- The Poisoned status effect deals between ~175-230 base damage per second vs player targets, depending on the maximum health of the target. Against AI targets this number can grow higher, as they can have significantly higher maximum health.
- While affected by Poisoned status effect, target's Brace Mitigation is reduced by 50%. Example: Ship A is poisoned. It receives a hit of 1000 damage - 500 is absorbed by Brace Strength, the remaining 500 will apply to the target's Hull Health
- While affected by Poisoned status effect, Bracing consumes 60% more Crew Stamina than normal.
- A balance pass has also been made to existing armors and ships to include Toxic resistance.
The following weapon mods have been added to complement the new damage type.
The following affixes have been added to the pool of possible affixes for enemies in World Tier 2:
- Blessing of Toxic
- When rammed, this ship takes additional 500% Ram Damage When this ship receives Toxic Damage, its Hull Health is repaired by 7 of the Secondary Damage Taken.
- Poisoned Resistant
- Reduces Incoming Toxic Charge from enemy ships by 10%.
New Activity: Mythic La Peste
La Peste returns stronger than ever, beckoning the bravest captains to the sickly-green horizon. Veterans will find this symphony decidedly venomous; lesser vessels may find the waters a little... toxic.
This is a fight that loves to linger in your veins: its signature venom mirrors the new Poisoned status---gnawing over time, biting harder the more you let it build, slipping fangs past your best defenses, and spreading to the unwary who huddle too close.
Keep your distance, keep your cool, and don't let the pressure poison your judgment. The plague-ship calls---answer wisely, and you'll leave the sea feeling contagious... with triumph.
- Mythic La Peste is now available as a permanent Call-to-Arms activity, alongside Mythic Vikram and Megafort Wolvenhol.
- A minimum Ship Rank requirement of SR12 is needed to initiate Call-To-Arms.
- The encounter introduces poison-focused mechanics aligned with the new Poisoned status effect, including contagious toxins that can spread to nearby players.
- Special Ascended equipment with an increased chance of poison-related modifiers can be earned from this activity.
New Cosmetics
The Character Suit is a new vanity type for characters, and players can find this new category while customizing their captain in the Atelier. Equipping the character suit will override the vanity visuals of other character vanity slots.

Gameplay Updates
World Tier Improvements
- Objective rewards now scale with your World Tier for objectives that are normally not tied to a specific Tier.
- The scaling is determined by the difference in Recommended Ship Rank (SR) between World Tier 1 (WT1) and World Tier 2 (WT2).
- Equipment and Vanity rewards are not affected by this change.
Item Ascension
Modification Locking
- You can now lock modification slots. When locking a modification, Reforging will only affect stat values while keeping the perks.
- Modification Locking applies to both Weapon Ascension and Armor Ascension.
- Reforging while a modification is locked will require more materials.
General Ascension Improvements
- The Reforge limit has now been increased from 60 to 75, this retroactively applies to items already acquired. (i.e. an existing ascended weapon with 0 attempts left will retroactively have 15 more attempts added).
Better Exposition of Ascension Stat Ranges
- Added a visual indicator for differentiating ascended equipment of different origins.
- Looted ascended equipment has a different visual indicator from non-looted equipment.
Dev note: As a mechanic, ascended items acquired through loot tend to have an increased stat value range compared to crafted ascended items. We've observed that this mechanic has not been well exposed since the introduction of the Item Ascension feature and we're taking the opportunity to make minor visual adjustments to reinforce this mechanic.
Ships
Ship native elemental resistances have also been revised in lieu of the introduction of the Toxic element. Ships will gain additional resistance at Upgrade 6.
Armor
- With the introduction of Toxic elements, various armor will also provide Toxic resistance.
- Elemental resistances for certain ship armors have been updated to match other Epic armor.
Furniture
- La Potence Schematics
- Removed the modifier "Reveals weakpoints on the Fleet of Pestilence", the weak points of the fleet of pestilence will now be revealed by default.
- Added: Penetrates 10% of Toxic Resistance.
Dev note: During our review of La Peste fight mechanics the development of Mythic La Peste, we've noticed that this mechanic forced players into certain player loadouts. We're removing the requirement of this equipping furniture to view the weakpoints of all La Peste variants and changing the effect of this furniture to encourage a greater diversity in loadout strategy.
Perks and Modifications
- Adjusted Overflow: Amount of Severe Damage dealt via this Mod is now based on weapon's final Flooding Damage after elemental resistances have been applied.
Dev note: In the original implementation of Overflow, the Severe Damage dealt was incorrectly mitigated by armor rating, and most recently was not mitigated by anything at all. This change instead mitigates the Severe Damage dealt based on the target's Flooding Resistance.
Wind
- Added a new wind indicator arc in the Player Status widget in the HUD to indicate optimal wind & sails alignment.
- The green arc indicates the optimal point of sail with the greatest bonus to sail speed.
- Align the indicator with the green arc for the greatest bonus to sail speed.
- When aligned, the white indicator will turn green.
- The new wind indicator arc can be turned off in the player settings menu.
- Improved 3D and VFX visual feedback to reinforce optimal point of sail.
- Improved VFX of wind gusts to more closely match gameplay effects.
Hostility
-
Added Faction Privateers to each of the 6 Indian Ocean faction's reinforcement fleet pool.
-
Faction Privateers are faction aligned privateers that fly Faction emblems while retaining their usual red sails and hull.
-
Faction Privateers now replace default reinforcements at Hostility levels 3 and above.
-
-
Increased kills required to raise hostility in WT2:
- Level 1 - Enter combat
- Level 2 - Total 1 ship sunk
- Level 3 - Total 4 ships sunk (previously 2)
- Level 4 - Total 7 ships sunk (previously 5)
Dev note: With the introduction of Faction War, we've taken the opportunity to review the existing hostility rules. These changes aim to improve the pacing of combat escalation, while simultaneously improving its readability by introducing a new set of reinforcements.
Megafort Wovenhol
- Added Minimum Ship Rank requirement of SR12 to initiate Call-To-Arms.
Dev note: While we continue exploring more permanent solves to players who do not contribute to activities, we're first introducing this requirement to ensure that participants adopt an appropriate loadout for the encounter.
Forts & Towers
- All status effects (Ablaze, Flooded, Punctured, Shellshocked, Stormstruck, Poisoned) are now consistently applied to towers; previously, only a few were supported, and their application was inconsistent.
Mythic Vikram
- Added Minimum Ship Rank requirement of SR12 to initiate Call-To-Arms.
Inventory and Loot
In our efforts to streamline item management in Skull and Bones, we will be removing some items that are not commonly used and unnecessarily cluttering inventory space.
- 26 items are no longer obtainable from the game, from loot sources, vendors and buyout features.
- Manufactory and refinery production of the affected materials that was funded prior to the start of Season 3 will be cancelled - the production cost will be refunded respectively.
- Existing crafting recipes have been adjusted accordingly with the removal of the affected materials.
- Existing materials will not be removed from your inventories. These items can be converted to other usable materials at the Refinery or sold for silver at vendors.
Ship Cargo
- Ship Cargo encumbrance limit has been doubled across all ships. Players can now carry more items without worrying about reaching the weight limit as quickly.
Onboarding Changes
- Onboarding Contracts: Seaworthy Charge & Unwelcome Aboard
- The respawn cooldown for the contract target ships has been reduced. This adjustment improves the experience in the shared world by minimizing cases where one player arrives just after another has already sunk the target.
- Contract: Ship Crafting
- A new helper text has been added to guide players to their cargo, where they can open a chest containing the required blueprints, along with the materials needed to craft them.
